Pleasant, relatively flat trail with some nice views of the river. Beware of ticks.

Nice little walk on a cool late October day with some fall colors. Trail is wide and well-marked, very easy to follow. There is also a very nice nature center here with really nice restrooms. Lots of places to rest along the trail in case you need it.

Overall nice easy Sunday morning hike. The eastern side of loop has several areas to view Carmen’s River. Only complaint is that during entire hike our serenity was disrupted by constant gun fire from nearby rifle range.

Hiked the trail, the tree markers we're good in most parts and poor in a few but the trail is easy to follow. Great for the family. I would recommend for sure.

Love this trail! It's one of my favorites. It's pretty safe, has at least 2 bathrooms open from April-October and plenty of unique terrains and scenes.

The park is also connected to the Long Island Steamers, a shooting range, horse stables, and camping grounds.

Southaven park's features include a little playground with a swingset, a vast grilling/ picnic area, small baseball field and docks along Carmen's River.

Also, it's the famous site of the November 1992 UFO crash.

Beautiful nature center...I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you have kids. Preserve was BEAUTIFUL. Saw 6 deer, variety of birds, chipmunks & a turtle on our hike. Only downside was the BUGS. We were eaten alive even with bug spray on. Granted, it was an all natural spray... didn't contain DEET. But the mosquitos weren't affected at all. Took away from our enjoyment.

One of the nicest south shore Suffolk places to hike run. Easy trail, great for running, 2 paths combine for a good distance

great park

Actually their are 2 trails with close to 7 miles of hiking. Almost entirely flat it is an easy walk. The parking lot divides the 2 trails so you can do one loop and return to your car before doing the second loop.

Out for a quick ride yesterday. Trails were in great condition. Good workout!

Really nice easy peaceful trail!!

Wide , flat well marked trails . Great views of water and marsh , will be a great place to bird in the spring.

Pretty serene park. 8+’ wide level trails. Starts off as packed stone then becomes earth. Same width. Many trees down from beetle blight. A shame. But it doesn’t detract from the beauty. The park has a rich whaling history at the Indian Landing point.

I found the trail very easy. It’s a nice trail for anyone looking for a pleasant, non strenuous hike. It’s a very level surface which is about 5 to 6 ft wide. Beautiful surroundings especially near the water.

I've been going to South Haven park for over fifty years, I love the trails, and I'm looking forward to another spring, summer and fall wandering the back trails of this fine park

Easy trail that was well maintained

great scenic trails with places to look out over lakeand marshes. A lot of wildlife to see. many trails that are well marked.

A good handful of people go to this location. I just prefer paths less frequented.

Really lovely trail (the White Oak loop). There is a brand new, large facility at the entrance with ample parking. From there, you proceed on a large gravel road/path to a trail on loop, that runs partly alongside the river and then into the woods. We did the shortcut loop with our 5 and 3 year olds. They loved it -- the guides they provide are excellent (even when the facility is closed), with pictures of animal footprints, leaf shapes, and other flora and fauna for the kids to find and identify. The trail is basically entirely flat, with several places to loop back earlier if you are getting worn out. There are picnic tables at the head of the true trail (which is where the loop begins and ends), and benches scattered on the trail throughout. We went on a holiday in February and it was pretty empty; we occasionally passed another hiker. It would be really beautiful in fall, summer, and spring, but even in the middle of winter it made for a really nice loop in the woods!

Great trail. Well maintained

easy and fun. great place to relax.

Did the white oak and black Tupelo trails. A little buggy by the water (not surprising), but a nice easy walk. There were a couple areas nearly clear cut of pines due to the Japanese beetle problem.

It has been awhile since I have been here. Very nice, easy parking.

Very pretty areas of this park. Dogs allowed. Fee to park in summer. Playground, restrooms available. Row boats for rent. And there is a stable outside the park to the West side where I think they do trail rides in the park. I walked in to the north of the parking area, and headed up the main trail, veering off to the right at the frok. It takes you to a really nice little dam over the river. We usually turn back the way we came, since we tried to make a loop by crossing the river and heading south on the other side, and that took a long time- about 2 hours total of walking. Camping available. Watch for ticks- I haven't seen them yet here- but we are very careful since my daughter got Lyme's disease last Spring.

Believe it or not this is Suffolk County's first county park! Cool right, but this park has a lot more then just biking to offer. The trails are used by day trip hikers, horseback riding, and so much more. The Carmen's River is has fresh water fishing you can kayak. This park is also great for family reunion type BBQ's. An over all pleasant park. Just watch out for the swans they are fast!!! :)
