Nice and relaxing paved walk around State Park. Very easy, nothing really exciting though. I like that as long as you stay on the paved path, you aren’t picking ticks off your pup.

Not very scenic but definitely a good running trail for sure.

my friend and I met here as it was about halfway for us, she's in Glens Falls and I'm in Clifton Park. Met on the Meadowbrook end and walked through. Saw some snakes and geese and one other random bird. We enjoyed the trail, it was wet at the beginning for us but it had been raining off and on the past few days.

Loved running and biking in this park when I lived in Saratoga. Participated in several 5k events that also used the trail. There is a organized recreation section to run thorough and also a more nature section. Was also fun to snowshoe. Miss it very much!

We did this trail late fall, so we were not bothered by bugs, but in the lowest area we really tried hard to avoid the mud. The trail has a very special feel because it is very straight and has trees that join at the top so it looks like a tunnel. We enjoyed it!

Definitely not easy to run the full 5.5 mile loop but had a lot of fun. Lots of ups and downs, big rocks, roots, and pieces of trail that get hard to follow. Lots of trail options to branch off if you want. Keep the app with gps signal on to follow the right path. A small adventure not far from town.

We live 5 minutes from this park and use its trails, playgrounds and parks almost every weekend. An amazing, diverse and beautiful park!

Trail not marked well at all. Without the app it would have been impossible to follow. Lots of intersecting bike trails made it difficult. Overall it was a nice hike.

Trails need to be marked better. There I only one sign that indicates it's Bee. Also, it was a very easy hike to me so I'm not sure what the scale is based on when it's labeled as difficult.

Tough and technical.

no matter how much spray we used, we still were attacked by bugs to the point of not wanting to ever go back.
Snakes everywhere! that part was interesting.

Within a few minutes of leaving the Lake Avenue trailhead, just a few miles from the bustle of the Downtown Saratoga Springs, the noise of traffic faded away and we entered a wooded wetland ecosystem. We saw beaver activity, snakes, red-wing blackbirds, and a cedar waxwing as well as evidence of foxes (scat on the trail). No elevation gain to speak of. The areas on either side of the Eastern boardwalk (near Meadowbrook Trail) were very wet and impassable without stepping in 6-10 inches of water and muck. Still worth it.

Mountain bike loop . Nothing hard about this trail . Hiked with my young kids.

Way too many mosquitoes and horse flies. I would try this in the fall but not in the warmer months.

Went on a hike here during pouring rain after almost an hour's travel to the location. We were prepared for a tough trek, based on the "hard" rating. We found the trail was actually an easy hike, although over infested with mosquitos. There were many trails, none well marked and hard to follow. After wandering around in the woods for a couple hours, all we wanted to do was go home, we weren't enjoying ourselves. This is rated "hard" if you are mountain biking which we believe is what the trails are meant for with various SMBA trail tags.

Walked in from the Lake Ave. parking lot. The first 1/4 mile of the trail was rather damp as the beavers have dammed up a couple of the small streams. Still, a nice morning for a walk and some bird watching.

Walked this one again with my daughter today. The reflecting pool is filled with water and soon will have tons of tadpoles! We walked down the Ferndale Spring trail and had a nice snack at Karista Spring while watching the fishermen catch all the trout they stocked yesterday. Looked like fun!

The Creekside Education Center is coming along nicely and will soon be a huge boost to this part of the park.

snowshoeing
Sunday, February 19, 2017

My daughter and I took a snowshoe hike on the Wetlands Overlook trail and some of the Five Mile Trail this morning. This is in the southern section of the park and follows the old Delaware and Hudson Railroad bed past a marshy pond.

The only drawback of this route was the proximity to Route 50. From the parking lot at the south entrance to the park to the pond, it was a little noisy. Once we turned away from the pond on the Five Mile Trail, the noise abated considerably.

it was nice and easy hike. good for young kids. It was not a maintenance trail during the winter but nothing nice snow boots can't handle.

We only visited the "tip of the iceberg" on this network of trails. We walked a variety of terrain from carriage trails to single-track mountain bike trails. There is signage and trailmarkers, but since we didn't have a map, we relied on AllTrails GPS track for navigation. There are some elevation changes, but generally the area is flat with beaver ponds and swamps throughout. We will need to go back when snow-covered to try snowshoeing here. A map designed by SMBA mountain bikers is here: http://www.saratogamtb.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/SMBA-Map-Front-20156.pdf

Great hiking. Close to town, but yet your really away from it all. Have been on trail many times and there are always different trails to walk on. Be sure to track your trail because there are many and not all marked.

Great for many levels. We went a wee bit off the main loop and hiked the mountain biking trails. They are pretty fun to power hike.

Did the "5 Mile Trail" the other day. Super duper easy. Lots of zig zags and switchbacks that almost seem kind of pointless but it is what it is. There is an administration building across from the Hall of Springs that offers free full color maps of all the trails within the Saratoga State Park. Although the trail is marked it can be somewhat confusing at times. Long straight portions with no signage can get a bit confusing. All in all a decent walk for keeping the heart rate up.

Good trails for the most part, just poorly marked. Good if you have a lot of time to spend wandering around.

we really enjoyed this beautiful area, it's primarily for extreme mountain biking as there were some parts I could not believe people actually biked through, we however went to hike and the area had a diverse range of habit from Rocky boulders to heavily woods to a small water area, the trail markers in some areas were kinda misleading but definitely worth it, would recommend.

Fun for the kids. We took the carriage trail to the rookery trail (1.2 mile loop around a wetland area). Trails are well marked once you get to state land. Before that it was guess work and using the all trails ap. all total we did 5.1 miles in 3 hours with a five year old and an 8 year old. We hike a lot and this route was easy-moderate. Lots of other areas to explore. Worth the trip we will be back.
