Nice area, with amazing rock formations! Could spend hours exploring the tight rock crevices. Does have admission fee, but well worth it. Friendly proprietors....visited on Mother’s Day and mothers were admitted free. As a side note: Bathrooms are clean and unique.

Beautiful forest trail. There was 12-18 inches of snow on the trail the day we did it, so really slow going. Covered in snow, it was hard in some places to figure out where the trail was. We've done this trail in the summer as well and the trail is easy to find when it's not covered in snow. Note that the trail is marked, both at the trailhead and on the trail markers, as the Beehunter trail. The full loop is also about 6.5 miles rather than 5.3.

Great trail just need better markers.

great easy trail. really nice for family treks

not quite what I was expecting but a nice short walk through the woods, it was nice!

Beautiful scenery. We did it with 3 kids under 8 and they loved it.

Great trail in a beautiful area of the park. Steep climb to start the trail with overall elevation gain for the first half of the trail, with the back half being primarily downhill. Very well defined trail, nearly impossible to get lost. Dirt trail, so it can be very muddy (and will be if it has rained within the past few days), which pushes the difficulty up. Highly recommended.

Make sure you don't rely on google maps to find it, we lost reception and never found it. We'll try again next year.

I loved this trail!!! The caves at the beginning were awesome and fun to climb on. The rest of the hike was tough but beautiful!

Despite all the rain overnight this trail remained reasonably dry. Nice hike.

Trail is 2.7 miles, not 1.7. Trailhead is a good distance from parking. Wide trail, gentle but frequent hills, currently a few downed trees.

Pretty fun trail in the woods - easy to enjoy the sounds of songbirds and woodpeckers

Repurposed railway - it's now a completely flat grassy path that cuts through the woods. It's a decent walk, but gets boring since it's so flat and relatively straight

Similar to Thunder Rock in Allegheny - but with more moss and waaaaay less people. It's a very tranquil spot

Really cool trail. Plus on the bright side it's super flat so that way you can bike plus it's not a hard walk at all, just super long! Bring water and friends! Plus if you like geocashing this place is a perfect place to start.

Great trail, well marked. Only saw a couple of people. Beware of the acorns in the fall!!!! Would definitely come back and walk it again.

This is a nice excursion for anyone who is staying in Allegany State Park for a picnic or camping. It has a trail that is easy to follow, and with no significant obstacles. This is a very family-friendly kind of trail. It is a typical walk through the forest, with no spectacular views to mention.

The more significant views in this area are near the trail head. Nearby Red House Lake is scenic and tranquil lake, although it can get pretty crowded during the summer.

For this hike, park at the lodge which is south of Red House Lake. Make sure to stop in the lodge to see some of the history of the region or get something to eat in the restaurant upstairs.

Good range of terrains, secluded trail, beautiful forest scenery. Trail spans 3 mountains with several good ascents and descents. I would rate challenge level as moderate. Get out and hike!

This trail is called the beehunter trail and is well marked once you are on the trail. When the trail ends you will have to find the bike path to follow to get back to your car but it's only about a half a mile away. I would recommend this hike.

Best hikes!! Bear caves and thunder rocks are a must see!!

I'm not aware of a specifically "10.9 mile trail" in Allegany SP, but there are indeed several hiking trails in the Red House Lake area. We hiked about 10 miles, there-and-back, on the section of the North Country Trail passing through Allegany, accessing it via the Conservation Trail, which starts right behind the Red House Administration Building. This was a moderate hike, with a steady but gradual initial climb and mostly undulating terrain after that. Trails were well-marked. The tree canopy is very dense here, so there's not much understory, which is great for wildlife viewing--we were able to spot and observe a young bear quietly foraging more than 50 yards away.
