Stissing Mountain Multiple Use Area comprises two small loops that overlap to form a figure eight. This is the north/east loop, accessible from the northern parking area accessible by dirt road. You can extend it by skipping the cutoff and adding in the south/west loop that passes the other parking lot. Parts of the trail don't see much traffic, so in places it can be hard to follow: keep a keen eye out for the variously red, yellow, and purple trail markers. There's a small stream crossing, and the bridge is out; conveniently, a tree has fallen across in just the right spot! The best part of this hike is what's just off of it: follow the creek downstream to a lake with beaver lodges and an incredible system of tiered beaver dams where it flows out to the south.
