The Stephens Pond to Wakley Pond section is now marked correctly. Thanks AllTrails Team!

Great trail. Only problem is the trail markers. I think there should be more around where the trail curves. With old parts of the trail still around I could see a beginner getting turned around if they're not careful.

We hiked the 12.5 mile section from Lake Durant to Wakley Pond on Thursday but the trail differed from the red line marked on the app. Just south of Stephens Pond the trail actually goes west rather than south toward the gravel/paved county road ( Cedar River Road, aka county road 12). Next day we walked the 6 or so miles of the county road from Wakely Pond eastward hoping to connect with the trail marked red on the map in order to go back north toward Stephens pond and Lake Durant effectively making this a loop. When we got to the place where the trail was supposed to connect with the county road we found no signs or markings indicating a NPT trail. We actually had to walk through private property to find a road matching our gps reading and where the trail was indicated in red. After walking about 3 miles we did see a few blue NPT trail markers but found the trail impassable due to a large swamp. This was about a mile south of Stevens Pond where we veered west the day before. We had no choice but to turn around and head back to the county road. If you hike this section avoid yourself some grief and frustration by staying on the dashed trail not the red marked portion that takes you to the county road. TO SUMMARIZE: So going north from Wakley Pond towards Lake Durant do not take the county road eastward but instead walk up the east side where the trail is clearly marked with signs. If you are hiking south from Lake Durant do not continue toward the road south of Stephens Pond but rather go westward and follow the NPT markers. This really needs to be fixed on the All Trails Map!

River road basically turns into the trail FYI. Private property signs though I don’t think it included the trail. The end is pretty disappointing, the trail just stops/ends in the woods. Although it’s kind of near a big clearing. And the only way to see the waterfalls is to hike down off trail on very steep declines.

Dog-friendly. Not ridiculously busy, but by getting there early you will avoid many other hikers. This is a nice, moderate hike. Elevation gain is not significant. But not flat terrain either. Trail includes rocky areas, as well as root-filled sections. At only about 1-hour from home, we’d definitely do this hike again. Maybe in the spring when the ground melt feeds the creek and 3 waterfalls. Even in the fall, the waterfalls were ample. ~09/29/19

I really enjoyed this trail. I didn’t see many other hikers on Saturday. The falls are beautiful!

Very enjoyable hike we did on a dry day. Would have some slippery areas if ground was wet. 2nd and 3rd water were the best

Silver Lake was pretty, but most of the trail was pretty boring. Quite muddy in places. Very overgrown in other places. Mostly flat.

Beautiful trail. We have been up there maybe three times and just love the stream and the bridge. Trail is marked well and there were no bugs at all today. Perfect!!

A well marked easy to follow trail. The terrain is rocky with so many roots. We went after a couple days of thunderstorms so the roots/rocks were wet and quite slippery but still easy enough. The 2-3 falls are worth the walk which mostly follows the stream which is nice. Saw many families with small children who all seemed to enjoy. Can definitely wade in the water to cool off or just let the kids play at all 3 areas

The only real things to see are the lakes. Other than that it’s just miles of the same forest and bugs galore, even with bug spray. Not really worth the time it takes to walk it.

Nice trail. Very peaceful through the woods. Campsite at the end of Godfrey Rd spur worked out pretty well! Trail to Rock Lake in decent shape, and fairly steady. After Rock Lake, the trail got much more "interesting". More differences in surroundings - spend some time in the woods, along rocky creekbeds, and along lakes. But it was also much more overgrown, and had a great deal of blowdown. Past Meco lake, the brush and the blowdown got a little much. LeanTo at Silver Lake is well-appointed, despite the slant. But the sunset was perfect. Buggy on Saturday, but they took Sunday off thank goodness.

Nice wooded trail that parallels a babbling creek virtually the entire path. I don't know why it is rated moderate. I am in my 50's, passed ladies in their early 70's, and families with young kids. All looked to be enjoying the hike. First and third waterfalls are best for going for a swim. Enjoy.

Pretty easy trail . Not much water for filtering . So do that when you can. That road walk out of Northville was the hottest part . Of course we went when it was 90. Deer flies were tough with the occasional horse fly. Mud pond was a great place to take a break . The water crossing was wide and slippery . Lean to looked brand new right off the trail after the water crossing.
