There is a lot of trash all along the trail and dumped in the woody areas. Even someone from the parks department dumped a bunch of seedlings in their plastic planters instead of actually planting them. It was terrible.

Was surprised to see how close to nature one can be right here in the Bronx. Luckily in my trails I saw a few people and even though it felt quite for most of the trail, I had the fortune of seeing a family of deers! It was such a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing trail. Truly recommend it. There were some parts that was a bit scary, like walking under two tunnels to get to the other side, but other than that, it was a great nature experience.

Nice if you live not far, as there’s no that many, and flat enough to be kids friendly.

Nice hills. Clear trails . Amazing its in ny.

Good for running and/or walking.

Fun trail

Perfect for walking/running with your pup or peaceful enough by yourself. There is several places with broken glass but overall perfect for what we were looking for.

Rooty ,muddy lots of thorns. The trails are all broken up in different sections and should not take more than 45 minutes to run the whole thing. Some of the trails are across the street on Hylan Blvd. and Luten Ave. Be very watchful of cars they will not slow down at all.

Not a bad way to go if you only want to hike a few miles without challenge just for fun. Make sure you check out both sides of Hylan Blvd not just the side where the beach is.

I like bringing the dogs here but there is so much glass in the sand it can be a little scary.

These are mountain biking trails that are unmarked and barely beaten. The trail guide on this app and the real trail are completely different.

Very nice trail to walk our dogs. A little confusing to follow the path. Walking along the parkway can be very noisy. At one point you walk along a stream that joins the lake. My dogs loved the stream.

Convenient, some interesting, and I mean interesting , views, but mostly a more natural plot in a urban sphere.

It was a good trail close to home

Decent hike. Wouldn't bike it though.

Do not take the John Muir Trail. It is not maintained. There was horse poop quite frequently. The worst part was about a mile in, you reach an underpass to cross over the golf course and there was a homeless person living there under the bridge and no way to go around into the Old Croton Woods without passing him. Being in the Bronx, you don't feel safe when you see something like this. We saw the shadow of the man from a distance moving his sleeping blanket and immediately turned around. How scary! We tried to go down 3-4 miles to the lake past the vault area, and cross using the Old Croton Trail but once you reach the street, the stairs to the over pass were closed for construction. The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 was because the lake was beautiful and also the grand central stones were very cool.

It wasn't the best mountain biking trail I have ever been on but it was Ok. Yet, this review won't even help you at all since after Hurricane Sandy this trail is semi-non-existant. In its original form, it was very badly asigned and to continue you had to cross the street to the other side, which wouldn't be such a big deal, if it was properly marked. In my case it was a combination of common sense, iPhone maps and GPS that helped me find the right path :) Still, I considered it fun ... anything outdoor is fun :)
