muddy
washed out

It rained on Thursday, and the trail was still six inches of mud on Sunday. There were a few impassable spots of the trail, in sketchy parts of town.

Biggest complaint is that most of the trail is basically people’s backyards, and you have to cross WAY too many busy streets with no traffic lights.

The only reason this gets two stars is because the beach for the last mile is gorgeous! My advice is to do the yellow or blue trails which are actually nice trails, and check out the beach afterwards!

Great local Staten Island trail. You're very close to homes and roads but still a fun and varied path. All of the trail crossings by roads had flooding and required a detour around half frozen ponds of run off in January.

There is a lot of trash all along the trail and dumped in the woody areas. Even someone from the parks department dumped a bunch of seedlings in their plastic planters instead of actually planting them. It was terrible.

nice leisurely walk, surrounded by nature and birds

Nice easy walk with family, lots of birds, plants, and views, but extremely buggy. Even with heavy duty bug spray on, we got swarmed badly.

I went on a Friday afternoon in July/2018, and only glimpsed one other hiker in the 4 hours I was hiking. Serene, peaceful, and beautiful are the words that come to mind. I hiked the White Trail about 7.5 miles out and the same distance back, but be careful and take note of landmarks or you can easily get turned around and lose your bearings. Saw plenty of wildlife like deers, rabbits, and birds, and will definitely visit again.

The Loop is back! The breach has been repaired. Go here periodically for a quick get away, nice hike with many options for a short to long walk

Great for bird watching.

Perfect for walking/running with your pup or peaceful enough by yourself. There is several places with broken glass but overall perfect for what we were looking for.

Pretty trail leading from the nature trail, through a grassland with wildflowers and a salt marsh

Rooty ,muddy lots of thorns. The trails are all broken up in different sections and should not take more than 45 minutes to run the whole thing. Some of the trails are across the street on Hylan Blvd. and Luten Ave. Be very watchful of cars they will not slow down at all.

Really nice walk... it isn't a true boardwalk as it is all concrete. It is wide and should withstand any future storm. Great beach... pretty easy to get to from the city. Good for people watching. There isn't much else along this stretch...you have to west on 116th to find any decent eats. It is an easy 10 miles and a good way to get the steps in.

Very easy four and a half miles...give or take. There wasn't a lot of wildlife this go around. I'll have to go back later in the spring. With the government shutdown... the visitor's center was not open, which is always a shame. Children in Congress making decisions that have impacts that are far reaching. Regardless. It's only about an hour or so train ride from mid-town (A train). so you can leave at 9am and be on the trail before 11. It's close enough that after the hike, you can take the shuttle train to Rockaway and enjoy some beach time.

nice place for relax

Not a bad way to go if you only want to hike a few miles without challenge just for fun. Make sure you check out both sides of Hylan Blvd not just the side where the beach is.

Lovely beach close to the city.

I like bringing the dogs here but there is so much glass in the sand it can be a little scary.

Great variety of birds and beautiful views of skyline and Jamaica Bay. Be sure to check out the visitor's center. Binoculars are available upon request. Bug spray recommend for summer months.

Love seeing the local sea birds and the views of the city skyline from such a serene location.

Staten Island Greenbelt White Trail starting on Victory Blvd to Hylan Blvd and ending in great Kills park. This was a fun enjoyable 7 mile hike thru the Staten Island Greenbelt. The upper parts between Willowbrrok park, Latourette and the ravine are the most secuded and enjoyable of the White trail. The lower section are very close to roads so you will hear cars going by. You can continue another 1.5 miles to the very end of Great Kills park if you wanted to make this an 8.5 mile hike. We parked one car in Great Kills park and then drove to Willowbrook park to start our hike.

These are mountain biking trails that are unmarked and barely beaten. The trail guide on this app and the real trail are completely different.

It's just a boardwalk, nothing there at all. Be careful at night there.

Wonderful trail for water birds. Many herons and sandpipers to be found. Don't visit in the summer. Temperatures get extremely hot.

nice quick trail loop ! Osprey nests too.

Trail is not a loop
Loop trail breached by superstorm sandy
It is necessary to go partway round the trail, backtrack and then go the other way
