Be aware that this is “occupied land.” There’s beach access... if you pay $10 a person.

Hard to find entrance but very well marked when inside. Extremely quiet and serene!

Running

I run this trail 3x a week from Hylan to the Nature Center for a 6 mile out and back. I've seen deer, turkeys, chipmunk, and an assortment of birds while running. The west portion of the white trail is also excellent for mountain biking (Hylan Blvd to end of Egbertville Ravine). You may be able to see some houses on this western half of the trail but the trade off is more interesting terrain. If I were to strickly hike the white trail, I would begin at the Egbertville Ravine and head towards the nature center. As others mentioned a stop by Moses Mountain although off the trail, would also be advised. Enjoy.

One of the best trails on Staten Island. If it wasn’t for the fact that you had to cross streets every once in awhile, you would feel transported to a new world. Definitely stop and climb Moses Mtn.

Es una ruta fácil para todo tipo de persona pero la playa está sucia y tiene mucho vidrio roto.

My teen and I hiked this trail in the morning. A lot of gnats! Lots of wildlife, encountered a few mountain bikes and no other walkers. We will be back again.

Lake portion was pretty. The beach area was filthy and there were tons of mosquitoes on the loop back.

the first part of the loop was wonderful. great birds and great views. the 2nd half running parallel to the highway was less great and had a LOT of mosquitos (June 2020).

Nice walk around the pond. Gets pretty heated quickly since there isn’t much shade. The north east side of the trail across the blvd wasn’t open so we had to double back.

We walked this with a 10 and an 8 yr old and loved it! The beach at the end is quiet and secluded, not many people at all. Will go back for sure!

Walking

This was a great, easy, and family friendly walk through the really lovely reserve! Saw a ton of birds and flowers, and made us feel that we were far from the city. The air was clean, and the trail was well maintained as well. We did the West Pond loop, and took just a little under an hour to walk it. Would definitely visit again!

The trail is off, make sure you go during low tide or some of the trail isn’t accessible. A lot of garbage on the trails.

Perfect for a breezy walk by the ocean. This is one long, flat boardwalk and it is not a loop. You can walk to the end and then walk all the way back, or enter at any of the multiple entry points and decide your own path. Very limited food vendors are currently offering takeaway food and drinks so it’s still worth a walk. You can also sit on the beach and relax. Check out the pier- lots of benches and you get a cool backdrop of the amusement rides and the ocean for pics. Advice from a local, do not wander too far past the amusement rides at night in the summer and if you do, please exercise caution.

Decent amount of trash on the trail. Also you need to time it with the tide to complete.

I walk here two to three times a week as the sun falls. Beautiful and peaceful, great place to gather your thoughts.
