This is a paved park pathway, not a hiking trail. Why is it on AllTrails? It’s a gorgeous park. The prettiest in NYC if you ask me, but it’s not a hiking trail. It’s a city park.

Coastguard housing makes this a bit tricky. Forts and views are great though.

Visited NY over a year ago and checked this one off the list.

The weather was cool and the sky was very clear and blue. This is the first time for posting pictures and didn't find if hard to geotag the pictures. I enjoyed the walk meet very few people. There was a couple walking their dog and some people on bikes. It was a very level walk and easy for someone my age. I'm a senior but able to hike a little. I enjoy using my camera and it and I needed a little exercise. I unintentionally started by Houdini's grave and then went to the reservoir. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Arguably the nicest place to walk in Brooklyn. Paved roads well marked, well kept. Delightful change in the middle of the urban jungle. There is also a dirt-paved trail run around the perimeter of the park, which I have not explored yet.

Pretty. Mostly woods and you can forget you are in the five boroughs

Great run, muddy which is okay. Be careful with the loose branches and trees.

Fun. Local. Clean trail. A couple of pitched (and mild) “hills”. Nice for and out and back run.

Nice view of Hudson River

It rained on Thursday, and the trail was still six inches of mud on Sunday. There were a few impassable spots of the trail, in sketchy parts of town.

Biggest complaint is that most of the trail is basically people’s backyards, and you have to cross WAY too many busy streets with no traffic lights.

The only reason this gets two stars is because the beach for the last mile is gorgeous! My advice is to do the yellow or blue trails which are actually nice trails, and check out the beach afterwards!

Great local Staten Island trail. You're very close to homes and roads but still a fun and varied path. All of the trail crossings by roads had flooding and required a detour around half frozen ponds of run off in January.

There is a lot of trash all along the trail and dumped in the woody areas. Even someone from the parks department dumped a bunch of seedlings in their plastic planters instead of actually planting them. It was terrible.

Love it!

Beauty at every turn. Was on my bucket list and it was well worth the trip.

Good view of Manhattan and the bridge. Some old fort buildings and cannons.

Yes it’s all blacktop. But this decommissioned section of the original Vanderbilt Motor Parkway has descent hills with both steady gradient as well as duration. And this is Long Island, we cant be too picky round these parts when it comes to hills. A good, solid run or walk. No cars to worry about and has nice canopy of trees. A Homerun if you you live in Nassau or queens!

Always a nice walk, still discovering new spots each visit. Especially around the lakes

Great way to see the skyline of NYC and others walking the city’s most famous bridge! Worth the time and excitement.

NYC’s best trail system imo. The orange, blue and yellow blazes will get ya about 6 miles combined and another 2 miles on the Bridle Path. All marked trails are loops so impossible to get lost. Close to trains, buses and ample street parking. Rarely crowded and Ive never encountered any n’er-do-wells. This is Queens after all and not the AT but some decent hills if you’re into that kind of thing. Bonus points for a fenced-in dog run at each end.

Best outing in NYC, nothing compared to the mountains of CO. It was great to get outside and see trees while we were in the city.

alright not for mtb.

It's all pretty nice. Still some fall colors out Thanksgiving week. So many trails going every which way

HIKED IT PLENTY OF TIMES,BEAUTIFUL HIKE,NATURE HIKE,EASY,RESEMBLES NEW ENGLAND SHORE LINE.
