Nice short trail that has a tough grade to start but views are really worth it. Would not call it “hard” but definitely a good workout. At the top, a creek might appear difficult to cross, and the posting (no trespassing) is imposing, but if you continue across the creek to the ledges, that is the goal. The waterfall at the creek is also gorgeous, and you can climb down a few ledges at the falls, but there is more past the falls if you keep going. The final ledges have stone “furniture” and a nice spot for a picnic.

This was a nice trail with good views. More like walking on a seasonal or country road. Two people can walk side by side. View half way up was nice and so were the views at the top. To answer any questions about another reviewers comments... yes the trail does keep on going. It is a part of a larger network of trails. If you read the map at the beginning/parking area of the trail you can see exactly when the trail goes if you were to continue on.

I love this hike and do it probably 2 to 3 times a month. The views are amazing and the sunsets are killer. Take a headlamp if your adventurous and stay until dark on a clear night. The sunsets get better long after the sun drops below the distant mountains and the night sky is awesome if the stars are out w no moon. Yes there are rattle snakes and yes I have encountered them. They will come out to the ledge at night to warm themselves on the rocks before going off to find a meal. Give them plenty of space and enjoy their beauty! The water falls are incredible in the spring and early summer but tend to dwindle out as the summer gets hotter and drier. To get to the falls you will turn right when you get to the creek crossing at the top. There is a faint foot trail that you will see. To get to the first overlook cross the creek and turn to the right. You will follow the creek for about 35 yards and if you ascend the small incline and bear left you will see a faint foot trail that will take you through a small tight section of overgrowth and put you right out on the old rock quarry. There you will see the rock chairs and rock statues as some call them. If you continue on along the path it will lead you out onto another path and if you turn right at that junction and go about 100 yds it will put you out onto the actual ledge with the best views. The trail up to the top is steep and rocky with loose gravel/rocks but well worth the hike. Enjoy and I hope to see you at the top this year!!

Went while snow was on the ground, very beautiful and scenic hike. Short and sweet.

Challenging. Short, but steep in spots. Good views from ledges. You have a chance of spotting hawks, turkey vultures or eagles. You also have a shot at seeing a rattler, so stay alert. Be careful with small children and keep Fido on a leash.

Absolutely stunning view! A favorite of locals and tourists alike. A little rocky and steep but well worth your time. It is a must see if you are in the area. Just watch out for rattle snakes as it is known to have a few from time to time.

loved this hike, went on a nice warm sunny day in Jan. The half frozen waterfall was amazing. A neighbor of the trail gave us the advice to stay on the trail the land to both sides are private land. it is well posted.

Iv done this hike dozens of times and it’s always worth it! Yes it’s steep but a short hike iv read some reviews of people missing the waterfall and the rock statues and ledge itself once you reach the creek at the top stick to the right side and take the well worn side trails towards the cliff edge they will run into the ledge and the rock statues.

Nice trail, wish it was longer.

Beautiful views especially with all the leaves down. The leaves on the ground make the steep parts a bit tricky/slippery. Amazing rock outcrops.

Beautiful area unfortunately the trail closes in august for hiking and biking.

It's such a great drive through, depending the time of day and weather there are many kinds of birds to see along with ducks and many more critters!

Good hike with a bit of scrambling. Can be kind of buggy in the summer and the views from the top are blocked with the foliage is full, but beautiful none the less. Keep dogs on leash. Area is well trafficked.

Nice drive through the refuge...took me about an hour (driving slowly and making short stops). I didn't see much but that doesn't mean anything. With a little patience you could get some great bird photos.

need trail maps at center

Dogs are no longer allowed.

Good hike with great views! If you're lucky you'll have some Bald Eagles overhead or flying below the ledges. Passed a few other hikers, but otherwise empty midday on a Wednesday.

Great views, waterfall, rock designs. Downside, be on the lookout for rattlesnakes!! No joke. Hike in is up all the way and rocky. Good chance of seeing bald eagles up there.

Love it! We did counter clockwise. Finished in about 1 hour 45 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Clean trail through buggy woods. So many other options in CNY, that include waterfalls and rocks. Did see a great blue on our drive out of the area.

I do this trail often as I live 1/2hr away. It's easy, grassy, flat and beautiful. Every time I go I see something new, like turtles, eagles, herons, and fox. Great for a simple hike!

The map here doesn't cover the entire length of the trail; it ends arbitrarily. I'm not sure how much more there is but some other hikers we encountered suggested it was substantial. Having just followed the route here, we saw neither a waterfall nor ledges. A good vigorous climb at the beginning and a pretty creek at the top of the hill were highlights.

Beautiful trail. Bear to the right at the loop for a more gradual climb and to the left for a more challenging hike. Be sure to wear bug spray as the ticks are out in full force.
