This was definitely a moderate hike..I would not categorize this as “easy”. It was challenging and enjoyable and absolutely stunning views at the top. I’m in good physical shape (good endurance and cardio level) but new to hiking and it took me an hour to get to the summit. (Trekking poles recommended) And I don’t know what kind of mountain goats people have for children but I think this might be challenging for little ones (or maybe they’re more agile cause they’re smaller?!) Even though it wasn’t sunny, the view on a crisp fall day was breathtaking and I might have uttered an f-bomb or two in disbelief..highly recommend

My wife was down at Saratoga Lake trying to row in the Head of the Fish, during a Nor-easter, so I decided to venture up Prospect Mtn. It was mostly rain at the bottom and mixed precipitation at the top with some slight glazing in areas making it a bit slippery. Love the tram history and the bull-gear and other artifacts at the summit. Decided to take the road around for my decent as there was not a soul in sight, no cars, no hikers, no birds, no noth'in...just me and the wind & rain. The road seemed to take forever but there were a few vistas on route so not bad. Bumped into an older gent collecting leaves at the trailhead down. Pretty cool hike!

Beautiful view of Lake George!

This is a straightforward up and back - straight up Prospect Mountain. Novices would call it Hard and Experts would call it Easy. Parts have a fairly steep incline. I did it with my 25lb one year old strapped to my back - took about 3 hours round trip. Views at the top are excellent for the Southern ADKs.

Awesome hike. We took our husky puppy and she loved it!

loved it

other than the poorly marked trails. (only saw one marker) it is a great hike compared to the other trail. hiked up it last night in the dark to camp out up at the top.

A nice steady climb to the top with some nice bedrock patches on the second half of the climb. My 5 1/2 year old was able to do this hike without too much difficulty. On the way down we found an entrance to the old cable tram carve out which can also be used as a trail and is actually easier. While the second half is steep (6/10), there are plenty of safe ways up and down. I would not rate this as a hard hike because it's so short in distance.

Signing could be better. The woods were nice and calm. No lumbering today but large piece of equipment in middle of trail. Would be a good way to climb Prospect but make sure you have GPS to guide you to the correct trail. Whole trail complex needs some love with some better maintenance and new signage. Had a good time.

First portion is a steady moderate hike after you cross the highway via a steel walkway. After you cross the road, the intensity increases to moderate to steep at times. We are novice hikers and we decided to go for it and it took us approximately 1 hr 15 minutes to reach the summit. The views are rewarding! Especially seeing the highway we crossed over!

I’d recommend hiking boots for sure, lots of water, snacks and breaks as you need them. I hiked with one hiking pole and found it to be very helpful. At the summit they do have a place to refill water bottles.

beautiful views!!

There were many trees down and the trail eventually became too obscured to follow. This was too bad, looking for a quick hike with the dogs.

Love this place. Great views on clear days. Places to cook and feed the family and great for kids

great hike up and down the mountain, lots of steep climbing up rocks at times. definitely higher end of moderate rating. family friendly too. we were unsure if kids in our group 5 and 7 years old, would be able to do it, and they made it to the top successfully and safely! highly recommend with beautiful view of the top. as mentioned before, you can drive and park up at the summit too. we saw a wedding ceremony take place at the top as well.

While this trail can be slightly confusing at first... just follow the all trails path laid out as it’s almost exactly on point. It’s fairly level for the first half and a steady incline for the second. There is a 180 view from atop the rocks at the “summit”. The mountain is a little higher as there’s a zip line and maintenance road further up. It took me about 40 minutes to the top and 30 down.

Love this trail. less traffic

nice hike for a flatlander from Louisiana. well marked trail to top could be difficult if wet. so glad they put the new trail in having used the power line to access in the past

Hiked this with my teenage daughter. Very steep at times and most of the trail is an ascent. I would rate this as hard more than moderate. If you go to the top you might as well go up to the summit. Very pretty views of the Lake.

On Thursday night from the mid summer to Labor day, I recommend a sunset hike to the summit and a walk down the road to a car overlook just before the trail first cross the road. About 9:30 they have a fireworks show down in Lake George Villiage. You will have a spectacular and unique view of the fireworks. If you just want to see the fireworks take the 25 minute hike from Smith street to where the trail cross the road at about 0.55 miles and go to the right (uphill) on the road about 1/4 mile to the car overlook to view the fireworks.

First mile was bing actively logged so we had to work out way over trails covered in branches and mud after that the next mile was a nice narrow trail through the woods. Unfortunately that ended and the remainder of the hike was on fire roads or snowmobile trails that were not well marked. Found the overall hike disappointing and would not recommend this hike with so many better options in the area

wonderful hike with gorgeous views from the summit!

worth a trek up if you're in the area. the views from the top are great and the steep trail gives a nice taste of adirondack hiking without the endurance requirements of an adk high peak.

amazing hike with serious ascents. the trail is well marked and almost entirely shaded. yes. it is rocky. sturdy shoes a must. hiking poles recommended. other hikers describe crowds. not our experience on a summer monday. we saw a few folks each way. at the top you will pop out on a park road. go left to find picnic tables, bathrooms, cold water, and a great view of lake George.

Clearly marked trail off the Warren County Bikeway approx. 1/2 mile north of Rte. 149. The start is very steep and rocky, it had rained the night before so it was also slippery. Took an hour and 15 min up and 45 min back. Overall a nice moderate hike.

GF and I did this hike after a full day of basically non stop rain. The rocks were slippery so we decided to stay slightly astray from the trail as walking in the dirt was safer.Red trail is really well marked and simple to follow.Starting at the stairs we made it to the summit in 1:13 and that was with a few short stops here and there. We were fortunate enough that not many people had driven up so it was not crowded.Windy but it felt great in a humid day.Views were fantastic.I would suggest hiking shoes and we had trekking poles which helped but this is a very manageable trail. Our round trip was 3:05 but I took quite a few pictures up top.
