August 29, 2017 took Gill Brook trail up to Indian Head and Boathouse/road trail back. Took 4.5 hrs round trip. Good trail signage. Gill Brook trail is beautiful, small waterfalls. Killer view of Ausable Lakes at top.

The most amazing view I have seen in the Adirondacks! My girlfriend and I did this hike on Saturday. It was definitely a little strange walking through the country club, but it is a pretty place and nice to look at. The road up to the trailhead is nice too, just keep an eye out for cars/buses coming and going. We finished the hike in about 5.5 hours with a long ~45 minutes at the top. It was hot as hell so we took the road back once down to the boat dock area. My girlfriend is not a regular hiker so it took us a little more time than more experienced folks. Somehow we had the overlook all to ourselves for about 10 minutes. It is definitely a popular hike, but once you get up there it makes sense why! Highly recommend!

Fantastic view on top - nice easy walk next to a river.

Did this loop clockwise, so ended with the Brothers. Magnificent trail, a few interesting challenges in the Brothers area. Last 0.4miles to the main summit is definitely something (because of incline, no climbing is required at this point - there are ladders). One could hike up and back from the South, which is easier, but that would be a mistake since the Eastern portion is a feast for the eyes. Actually, someone wishing for a quick hike to a great 360 view could simply go up to the 1st or 2nd brother and turn around.

I would describe myself in good shape, but I am no athlete and slightly overweight. Took me 5 hours. Brought 3.5L of water and came close to running out - weather was very hot and humid.

BTW Garden parking was full at 6:30am, but there was plenty of parking at the Marcy airfield (with shuttle service every 15-20 minutes - on weekends only).

One of my favorites in the area, I've done this several times both before & after the re-route.

Starts off as a nice leisurely trail with nice lakeside portions. Last portions includes 1 or 2 more difficult rock scrambling. Very wide summit area. Make sure you spot your return path when summitting as it is not very obvious when going back. Also, I felt pretty stupid missing the Noonmark sign at the 4-way stop (I thought it was a 3-way and went towards Dix for a while), but that's probably just me.

Enjoyable little hike to the top of the falls. Some very nice views close to the edge of the falls across the valley. Perfect for a quick hike on an overcast day where panoramic views are not the goal. Second part of the hike to the base of the falls was OK, short & flat.

Great trail. Super easy to follow, pretty busy trail. Summited Giant in 2:15, made it to RPR and back in 2 hours, then summited Giant again. Descent from Giant to RPR is brutal, steepest part of the hike. Harder to navigate going down rather than up in my opinion. Summit of RPR is fun, amazing views + it's fun to build balancing rock art (tons of rock to choose from). Descent back to the trailhead seemed to last forever (had a slow buddy with me) but overall a very nice day with cool temps + beautiful views.

Did this on July 4th, started around sunrise to beat the heat. Very gradual and enjoyable with rewarding views at the top! It wasn’t very busy but saw several people starting as we were ending.

First time up Hurricane 9/9/18
Start weather was incredible at right around 50° with full sun. Trail will keep you busy but isn’t difficult. It took me about 1:53 to reach the top. Views were absolutely amazing. Awesome hike! Will definitely do it again.

Nice hike with great views. I parked at the trailhead at the end of O’Toole Road, then followed Gulf Brooke Trail, to North Hurricane Trail to the summit. If you take this route watch for the signs. At the fork 1.1 miles in stay to the right, and .9 miles later make a hard left up the stream bed. The summit is beautiful. The tower is nice. And the views are spectacular! Enjoy!

less than an hour total hike, good ascent and beautiful views for the time it takes

Extremely short with great views. An excellent hike for small children.

Very gradual, nothing technical. Amazing views of Keene valley and Giant Mountain. Very open and wide summit, great for taking photos.

Well maintained trail with several nice views from The Brothers on the way up. Starts with a moderate to difficult slope to first brothers. Mostly in woods from Brothers to near top of Big Slide. Spectacular view from to of Big Slide. Brook trail is much easier down. 5.3 hour round trip for a senior with aging athletic knees. 4.5 hours for the young crew. Well worth the climb.

A great day hike, but don’t let the relatively short distance fool you. There are great views from both Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge. The hike from Giant to RPR and back is steep and challenging but worth it.

It took us 4:30 hours to finish the loop (actually we cut short the second half as many other hikers by taking the road back) and the views from Indian head did not disappoint us.

Hiked on August 18th. This was a very fun hike; not very challenging. The view from the tower was excellent! We really enjoyed this one!

Very open and wide summit as your reward for a moderate plus hike. I’m sure the fire tower is sturdy enough, but I wouldn’t climb on it again.....

Beautiful trail! The garden lot was full by 8:30am but the shuttle from Marcy Fields charges $10/person so you can drop off the others in the party off at the trailhead and just have the driver park the car at Marcy Fields. Last shuttle leaves back to the parking area at 7pm so plan accordingly. We are out of shape hikers so it took us about 9 hours and we took plenty of breaks and had a good time. The views going up via The Brothers were amazing and lots of mountain habitats to hike through. We are very sore but this is to be expected since we don’t have trails like this at home, this was my first peak in 6 years and my partner’s first ever peak. Five stars, a good combo of climbing offset by some flatter stretches too

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views!!! Rainbow Falls was gorgeous! This trail was pretty easy, with the exception of the last mile (or so) to the view point, then it was moderate. As 2 experienced hikers, it took us about 5.5 hours to complete including a 30 minute stop at Indian Head and 15 mins at Rainbow Falls. There was really no guidance as to how to get to the trail from the parking area. You have to walk a pretty good distance through a golf course before actually getting to a trail, then it’s about 3 miles of steady gravel road (with bus traffic) before getting to a small sign that says Indian Head to the left. Once you get to the wooded portion, it’s much more interesting, with little falls sprinkled throughout. The views are definitely worth the hike! The most difficult part of this hike is it’s longevity. While Indian Head was beautiful and peaceful, Rainbow Falls made everything worth it for me. It was so serene and beautiful! Highly recommended!

Couldn't ask for a better day on the trail. Weather was perfect. Fair amount of people, but I started early enough to get a parking spot. And most of the folks (and dogs) I saw were on their way up as I was going down.
There is no easing into this one. As soon as you leave the registry its a steady uphill to the summit. You jump right into switchbacks, scrambles, slides. This trail has it all. With beautiful views along the way as well. The summit has a beautiful 270 degree view of the southern high peaks.
The trail to Rocky peak was surprisingly technical on the Giant descent side. Huge slides and a fair amount of climbing. Couldn't imagine doing that portion of the trail on a wet day, up or down. Great views from Rocky peak. Could definitely see Lake Champlain to the east. As well as a great view of Giant. The climb back up to Giant was, to me, far easier than the descent.
Entire hike of both peaks took 6 hours exactly. And I tracked it at being 8.5 miles total. It was difficult but it is so worth it for the views alone. Time to ice my calves

Beautiful trail. I loved hearing and seeing the the water all along the trail. Very peaceful!

Unmarked (or minimum trail mark) but easy to follow

One of my daughter's favorite little hikes! We love this little mountain trail, and the view never disappoints. Please stay respectful of the property, as it is private, so we don't lose the privilege of using it.

Hiked it on August 19, 2018...just beautiful. Lots of amazing mushrooms and views. My friends and I are making it an annual hike

This was an awesome hike, it was very wet on the day we went and the trials had very little traffic. We did this loop in reverse and went over to Blake peak. Blake is very steep and going down Colvin to Blake is steep as well. Blake is a wooded summit and is not worth going to unless your looking to be a 46er. The climb to mount Colvin was moderate until the top where it was steep. On the way to Nipple top through the Elk pass was a long and at times steep up hill climb and was very wet on the day we went. No views were seen on Nipple to cause it was clouded over on our trip. It does offer a small summit with a great view on a good day! The hike over to dial was a great hike the trails here are very nice and the walking is good. You stay up on the ridge here which for us was a relaxing experience. There is a small rock for the summit and it was a great view! The trail back down to the lake road is not too bad either is just long especially after this long hike. Take note to anyone who’s trying to do this hike I clocked the mileage in at almost 23 miles this is a far cry from what the app says. The app is great for getting feed back but the mileage comes up really short. To all who go I hope you enjoy you won’t be disappointed it’s a great hike if your in good shape!

great hike for all levels, very pretty trail(once you get on it) and the view from Indian head is iconic! Had perfect weather today with no black or horse flies. can't wait to do it again in the fall :)

Easy hike with beautiful views. Great for anyone.
