Did this trail last summer as a side trip from a canoe camping trip. It was definitely a challenge, especially for the dog we had with us (had to be pushed up and handed down some of the steeper scrambles). What a view from the top though. We could look down and see all the areas we had just paddled through and it gave an amazing perspective.

Highly recommend doing this in conjunction with a paddling trip

My wife an I took our Shepard on this trail, unlike some other review's I thought the trail was nice. Great veiws of the lake, I think we saw about 30 deer an trail was easy to follow. It got a little muddy in spots but that's expected in the Dec., definitely a trail I'm gonna hike again.

If you are afraid of snakes- stay away, especially in the spring! It is a bog and snakes are prevalent. Many goose, ducks, and deer.

Decent walking trail to start your morning.

Short hike with great views

Trail is not easy, the whole hike is an incline and pretty rocky (so more difficult in the snow). Blue trail veers left to yellow, we missed it at first. Decent viewpoints once you're on yellow.

GIANT Mountain: on a beautiful sunny winter day with no wind, few people, 30 degrees..steep climb right away..no time to warm up!!.this is my favorite MOUNTAIN so far..great views at every turn..make sure you keep turning around to look..best part sliding down at least 1/3, if not more..was a glorious day.

Windy and rocky. Not enough snow to be fun yet and the wind made the top layer crunchy so it’s hard to walk in but you break right through.

awesome winter hike!

nice, twisty, scenic, nicely paved, all bike friendly.

Great trail to walk or ski any time of year. We love how you can go from maples and birch tree-lined woods to spruce and pine tree-lined forest on the same trail. Every season has a different look on this trail and they are all spectacular! Mostly flat and very well marked

This has a few different trails. Most are easy strolls but still beautiful. There is only one spot for a view, but being outdoors is still beautiful by itself.

Trail is very clearly marked blue and easy to follow. Bird lovers can enjoy seeing bald eagle and other birds. hiking in the winter sun gives beautiful unobstructed views of the Hudson valley and Bear mountain.
Be prepared for a tough hike as it goes up and down the hills.

Moderate hike with some dope views. The steps can be pretty slippery in the winter walk them cautiously. We found an abandoned shack which looks like it was once used as a birdwatching tower, but the floor had collapsed. The peak offers a really nice 360 degree view of the Hudson. Overall it’s an awesome hike for family’s and large groups of people.

Majestic, fantastic views!

tons of trails for all levels of ability

Well marked and in good condition, looks like fun for mt biking too. Hiked out and back (not the full trail) included small orange dot trail off the orange blazes

Follow orange numerical markers to 100. Nice hike through woods, ending at intersection of Eternal Flame trail. Out and Back trail, 2.7 miles. Moderate hike, with nice elevation changes throughout with a large hill toward the end.

Follow numerical orange markers through the woods. Moderate hike with nice elevation changes throughout along with a large hill. Trail intersects with a yellow marked trail and ends at intersection of Eternal Flame trail.

Beautiful! Challenging for a beginner but definitely doable. Tons of options out here as there are a lot of little offshoot trails. Download the park map too as the cell service is not good.

There is a lot of trash all along the trail and dumped in the woody areas. Even someone from the parks department dumped a bunch of seedlings in their plastic planters instead of actually planting them. It was terrible.

This one is tricky because the ATV trail was not marked, we had to cross over back to the path because the left turn was the ATV trail. Some good over looks.

This was a great hike, I only went up to ore overlook because of time, but the view was great. I had the trail all to myself as all of the other hikers went on other trails. The only other foot prints in the snow were deer it was amazing.

Great hike. About 1 inch of snow. Wore microspikes entire trail. Some sections had hard ice.

I did the entire traverse loop. Blackhead, Blackdome, Thomas Cole and Camels Hump.

Decided to go down to the road rather than go back up the trail. About 5 miles from Camels Hump trail head to Big Hollow parking lot. 10 miles in total.

Some sections were steep but nothing like the whites...

Gread day, just cloudy. Not a soul on the trail today.

Hiked on 1/18/19. Some very slick icy spots so I’d be extra careful. Lots and lots of blowdown. It was very easy to lose the trail.

Great snowshoe hike. Wide, flat, and well broken out trail (road) culminating in the Camp. Lots of cross-country skiers, so if you're on snowshoes try to avoid stepping on their tracks by sticking to the middle of the trail.

New section of the Appalachian Trail looks great. ALOT of stone stairs up and down the AT on Bear Mountain itself. Nice views from the top.
