Good trail system. Great flow . Fast but not to overwhelming

just went today, there was just a trinkle of water where there is normally a big fall, which is disappointing. normally a beautiful spot however!

I would not recommend this trail for a beginner, but one of my favorites.

Beautiful at the top- so worth the effort. We hiked with our schnoodle (who I think is part mountain goat) and my 70yr old mother in law. Took us a little longer than expected so we skipped Porter. It was very rocky so where good shoes or hiking boots.

Good for running and/or walking.

This was an enjoyable hike. Some of the views are breathtaking.
If I were to do it again, I will just do the red trail to the fire tower and back, as thats where the best views are. The yellow trail was long and did not offer much in terms of scenery.

Quick hike, rocky. Went counterclockwise, poles for the descent are handy. Lovely view from top.

Beautiful view and the hike up rocks was fun

great hike. first and last miles are low and flat along the creek. middle section (blue on white blaze) was a surprisingly fun rock scramble with a couple difficult climbs requiring hands and feet. very fun.

Great for an easy walk, though the lower trail can get very muddy.

I love this trail system, i would go as far as saying its one of the best trail systems on long island but that right is reserved for Glacier Ridge on baldhill, However this is good, not too much climbing, but not too much downhill kinda overall flat. Its a decent long island trail and i will be going back for sure, This is a great loop for first time mountain bikers, i didn't even need my full suspension bike to do this, I honestly could of gotten away with this on a hardtail, Its worth the time if your local but if your off Long island this isn't worth a trip, Its not IMBA maintained and it doesn't look like the trail workers care too much about certain sections, But overall i do like this trail, DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING DURING HUNTING SEASON. Just be careful if you do wear bright colors.

one of my favorite places to bike

We Hiked up the Macomb Slide and went on to do South Dix (a scramble) & then Hough. Really awesome 3 peak day hike. I loved the variety of this trail! Great views pretty much the entire time! They call it "un-maintained..." But, if that was true, then who's been out there cutting through the blowdown? Someone certainly has. Definitely a blast & would climb them again!

Took us 2 and a half hours to get to the top, and 2 hours and 20 to get down with a few minute breaks. Beautiful views, worth the trip, definitely a hard trail for beginners.

Lots of vertical change. Trail heavily trafficked. Not to bad around dusk.

It should be an up and down, not an out and back, but it is so fun and rewarding! Amazing views!

probably my favorite hike I've done. very easy and flat until last half mile when it gets extremely steep. amazing views

pretty easy steep on way out if you follow the loop. can be done with kids excellent view if you go a bit past the summit.

trail is heavily eroded but awesome views and a good challenge. Would recommend boots but I did in sneakers and in the rain.

Great for those looking for a challenging hike ending with a beautiful view at the summit. The hike is rather difficult due to some steep climbs over a rocky surface. It’s about 3.3 miles from the trail head to the summit, which took me about an hour and a half at an average pace. Would recommend to any moderate to experience hiker!

wonderful trail

This was a nice short hike and is 3 miles round trip including the Jeep road at the first trailhead. I would suggest not trying to drive in to the second trailhead unless you have a Jeep or a truck since their are large rocks and washed out gullets all along the way.

Great hike pretty steep the last mile but view is worth it

This trail is gorge-ous

Beautiful walk. More a walk than a hike, though some parts are quite steep. There are more trials than the two loops shown.I you go straight up the hill along the edge of the. meadow, there's also a trail that continues past the cutoff to the tower, down around the back side of the first hill to the left (west), and then along heading SW. Trails aren't marked AT ALL, but are wide and easy to follow. Quite well maintained, and mowed paths in the open field as well. Who maintains this place? Clark Foundation?

The trails are easy to follow, clean and easy going for walking or hiking.

As for a long day hike in the Adirondacks this range might be the most bang for your buck, but it will be a long and very full day. I completed this hike in 10 hours exactly car-to-car. I started off by walking all the way down to the Lake Road to the lake. Went up the Sawteeth scenic route to start the day. It began going along the lake for a while then started going up gradually. The scenic route includes 5 different “look outs” which were all great. Got to Sawteeth around 3 hours and 15 minutes from leaving my car. Next went to Gothics via Pyramid. Stayed on the range trail the majority of the day. Getting to Gothics was tiring but then going to Armstrong wasn’t too bad. Going down Armstrong to Upper Wolf Jaw was super steep with one extremely steep section including a ladder and cliff. Upper Wolf to lower wolf wasn’t as bad as it looked. Lower Wolf is wooded but still has lookout views. Went down the wedge brook trail to the west river trail out finishing the loop. Long day. All 5 (6) summits had great views. Some summits were bigger than others but all were good with at least a look out summit. Pyramid’s summit may have had the most unique views of the days due to its views of the slides. Great hike especially on a sunny blue sky day like I had. Full day, I’m beat.

Me and my dad did this loop in September 2017. The landscape is unique and combined with cascading 8 water falls makes the hike even more rewarding. We loved the hike and is fairly easy without much elevation gain. Plenty of opportunity for photo shoot. Parking is 8$ but under two hours, it is free as most of the roadside parking is just for 2 hours. So this hike is easily doable in 2 hours. Just a pro tip.

Hiked up in the dark watched the sunrise . Deer flies were horrible . Other then that a nice hike with good views for the amount of effort you put in
