Took nearly 7 hours on snowshoes. Had to break the 2nd half of the trail.

Good winter hiking as heavily travelled, did hike in crampons.
Nice view from the top!

solid hike did it mid march without snow shoes .... *dont do* but the hike was worth it great views from the summit if your trying to get a good photo go behind the fire tower

Easy walk, unfortunately park Pitch Pines devastated by bark beetles. North side of Veterans Highway offers nicer trails including a section of Greenbelt that is nicely laid out up to Lakeland County Park. Lots of ticks in warmer weather, treated clothing and gaiters recommended.

I climbed this trail with my bro, both equipped with snowshoes! In winter, this trail is beautiful! We took some amazing pictures! The view from the fire tower is phenomenal! It was really cold and windy up there, but it is so worth it!

We XC skied on little snow 3/9 but still had fun. The trails are groomed for XC so you have to wait until conditions are good and then follow the groomer. Check Facebook’s Shenendehowa Nordic Club for ski trail updates

The trail road is blocked by a snow bank two miles before the trail is supposed to start. wait until spring or be prepared to snowshoe through deep snow. Didnt make the attempt at a summit because i wasnt prepared for the extra distance

Great view from the tower and a nice little cabin at the top to read up on its history! Just a few days after the storm (3-11-18 hiked) so snowshoes were a must. First time snowshoeing and I’m glad it was done on Goodnow! A couple little icy streams along the way. There was another cabin of sorts about 3/4 of the way at the top but it appeared to have mostly collapsed under the weight of recently accumulated snow.

Probably took about 3x as long as it would have, as I was breaking the trail in snowshoes. Worthwhile to be up there in the snow. I think it took an hour and a half at most. Took my time at summit. Highly recommend.

Stairs going up for the greedy people I guess

My first hike ever. One of the days that changed my life, finding my love for the outdoors.

Nice lake in tarrytown to chill out in.

Do buttermilk hill instead

Great views of the Catskills. Breathtaking lake only 90 miles from the busiest city in the world. Great escape, highly recommend

Go day after it rains.

Great little hike. Different concept of things. Pretty cool views. I loved the forest with the music in it. That part was really cool.

It’s a nice and easy hike around the lake. But the best way to see the lake is to paddle board, or kayak. Great views of lake placid!

Love this hike. I’ve hiked it from the bottom, drove up it, snowboarded down it. Just an overall great mountain. The part where the trail turns into the road is great. And the part of the trail from the road to the top of the mountain is great, so many views.

Love this park all year round! It’s an easy place to ski, bike and hike. Especially good when you may not have a lot of time. I’ve seen lots of wildlife here, fox, deer, and many birds.

Crampons are a must during winter and beware of falling rocks, but a beautiful hike down into the Niagara gorge. It connects to whirlpool trail if you want to make a longer loop.

Difficult climb chose to do it the other day after a snowstorm. The hike was beautiful with the snow covered trees but unfortunately we had zero visibility at top but we still enjoyed the loop. Would like to revisit in the summer!

This hike was the completion of the Tupper Lake Triad challenge (third completion, 2 X Winter, 1 X Summer). This hike is one of those best bangs for the buck kinda mountains. When ever we have friends visiting who not not regularly hike, we take them on this hike.

This trail is not accessible to hikers during skiing season. Still giving 4 stars because it looks awesome and I will be back when the snow melts!

Nice easy loop around a lake but not really strenuous at all. Nice place to walk the dogs or go for a jog. To get your heart pumping try some of the other trails at Rockefeller.

Hiked in March - fairly easy ascent up to Eagle Peak and nice wide trails, but had to dodge a few downed trees here and there. Once you get to the top you can see the Tappan Zee Bridge off in the distance. The real treat at Rockefeller is 13 Bridges trail, which you can reach at the base of Eagle Peak by taking the overpass across to the other side of the highway.

Parking is limited yes, the trails aren’t easiest to find at time but beautiful trail. Once in the woods the beauty is serene, you feel as though it is all fake. I loved it, my dogs loved it.

Maybe I’m crazy but when i go on a easy hike i like to be able to look at nature and not have to watch every single step. Half of this hike is rocks. And since we went in March days after a storm we probably should have waited. It was icy and perilous. I would not score this as easy as children and the elderly would not be able to tackle most of the climbs and drops which don’t occur until it’s too late to turn around. And yes you hear the traffic on 28 the whole time.

Did this hike March 11th, 2018. We seemed to be the only ones on the hike this day as we made fresh snow tracks in 2ft + snow. It was extremely pretty in the snow.. steep.. and it just keeps going up haha. The ledge is worth it in my opinion if you want a decent challenge.

Good elevation gain and great views.. I like it
