Great hike. Not too difficult, great for dogs. Secluded and not too heavily used

nice little trail! views of the lake. quick and nice shelter

great hike! Lots of different types of terrain, beautiful view (in winter- no leaves) and a fun litte rock scramble. The shelter was a nice rest point. Not heavily trafficked.

Poor trail maintenance. Except for the pond, no payoffs. Decent hike..around 3hrs + 10 min break.

I took my elderly mother to this trail. It was her first time hiking. We didn't do the whole trail but it was still enjoyable. She borrowed a walking stick that was placed before the trail. There were several you can use and return.

Hiked just after a big snow..beautiful. icy. spectacular. need ice clamps on shoes for sure!! winter wonderland.

One of the best hikes in Harriman is: leave Bald Rocks Shelter, head East on Dunning, North on Long Path, West on Ramapo Dunderburg, then take Lichen to ASB trail to the AT to Island Pond then out to Elk Pen. The Dunning segment has Bowling Rocks, the Long Path is green even in Winter, and the RD and Lichen offers beautiful vistas and is lightly travelled.

Good trail. Very wet though. I did it in sneakers and absolutely could not avoid the mud, river crossings or flooded rock path. Entry through the right looking at the lake, did it in 2hrs.

Lemon Squeezer was definitely cool (attempted the little rock scramble part...the non-"Easy Way"...fail). There aren't really any clear views of Lake Tiorati on the entire stretch along the top of the hill next to the lake. It is a lot of exposed rock you are walking on and without the leaves, can see most of the way but that was about it. Also, apparently that part of trail gets HEAVY traffic. Was pretty cold out and still passed many really large groups. Once passing Lake Tiorati, the trail is a lot simpler and can get a bit dull for a bit. It doesn't really get rugged/interesting again until making the sharp left toward the William Brien Memorial shelter. After ascending the cool rock staircase by that shelter, it gets even better at the top of Black Mountain which has several views since becomes mostly ledge of trail along rock. Can see NYC and the Perkins Memorial Tower in the distance from different points. After crossing Palisades Pkwy, the ascent up West Mountain can be a bit rough but a lot of the segment up the mountain and throughout the trail to the north has so many great rock steps/stairs. What the AllTrails map does not show is that this whole segment from the top of the ascent all the way north before descending to Seven Lakes Dr, is littered with great views on different sides (plenty for all, even on busy days). I figured Bear Mountain would have a bunch from all the Camera icons, but was not expecting the trail leading to it to have just as many.

easy trail , first time night hiking , set up hammock tents inside shelter , we can hear the wind outside must be 15-20 degrees warmer in shelter , 17 degrees forecast for 7AM BRrrrrrrrr

11.6.19. I added a loop to this. Lovely trail, starting from the lot by the lake heading SW, then NW, and back around NE toward the lake. Some majestic woodlands on the white and green trails. My stats as a guide for this combo: Distance: 4.2 miles Elevation Gain: 630 feet Moving Time: 1:36:37

One of the best hikes in Harriman INHO. Great views from black Mt. Lots of variety. We were short of time so we cut downhill on and old road toward seven lakes drive rather than up and over to complete the loop. But all terrific.

Great hike !! There is a tree down blocking the path on Nawahunta fire trail. Rattlesnake still hanging out about 50 feet from Stockbridge shelter. First time hiking with my dog . Found out he is a natural at rock climbing.

Great trail, good amount of exercise and beautiful views especially in autumn. Good variation of flat terrain, hilly areas to a couple of rock scrambles. I had a 65-lb dog with me who did just fine on his own when it came to the steep rocks. Due to getting there a little bit after noon we started at Lake Tiorati to the Appalachian Trail instead and stayed near the William Brien Memorial shelter which was well maintained and clean. Then the second day went from the AT on to the bike trail to go up to the Anthony Wayne parking area.

easy ! nice quick hike I liked the shelter one of the nicest ones I've seen .

Excellent trail. My favorite so far in the area. Some short bits are unmarked but very easy w the app.
