Muddy but worth it! Glad I was wearing boots. Drove to Dacy trailhead to avoid hiking the road...so now I have another reason to get my Jeep. Take it slow and you'll be fine, though.

This was my first actual summit. Ever. I was absolutely ready to turn around and go right back up when I saw the registration box. I really didnt want to leave...I'm officially hooked.

Other than the rather anticlimactic summit due to cloud cover, it was the perfect day to get out there! Foliage was beautiful, and the hike was a nice rewarding challenge with the wet and mud!

I am not an avid hiker and agree with the moderate rating for a novice, mostly due to the terrain of rocks and roots. Lots of dogs and kids on this well traveled trail. It was quite wet and muddy so boots are a must. Too cloudy for a view today, but still was an awesome experience being in a cloud with the wind and mist swirling around you. Will be back on a sunny day

I would call this an easy hike. It was very muddy with a lot of standing water. Didn’t see any views due to the cloud cover. Will definitely hike this again in better weather.

We loved this hike!! My two daughters (ages 5 and 9) are excellent hikers but I tend to pick hikes that are closer to 4 miles. At 5 miles round trip I was a bit concerned that this could be too much for them, but it was great. The trail is very interesting - lots of wet areas and cross overs and places where you have to be sure to keep an eye out for the blue markers so that you stay on the trail. And the summit - well worth the climb. I highly recommend this hike.

Easy hike if you hike to and from Sleeping Beauty from inner parking lot. If you want to add some interest, go via Bump’s Pond which is pretty Trail. We have had a bit of rain so there was a lot of standing water and mud on upper parts of Trail (I wouldn’t wear sneakers)

Fairly easy hike, clearly visible trail with a very rewarding view of Lake George.

Nice easy hike to a pretty view of Lake George. Partially obstructed views but still worth the climb. After hiking to the View we went back down and looped around to the falls which was very pretty. The kids (ages 5, 6, 8, 9) loved it. We took a short cut to the falls so the total hike was about 5 miles instead of 6.3.

Well used trail around Falls and to Lake George. Nice for kids.

Great hike with my son-in-law and two grandchildren. Good times...

Great hike for a family. Not too difficult for our 8 and 6 year olds and beautiful view at the summit. Would highly recommend.

Loved this! Easy to find and great for families. We hiked down to the lake and enjoyed the coves and boat watching.

I did the falls and then kept going to walk along the lake. Falls and Lake George were very pretty and it was a easy relaxing one with the kids. I went on a Tuesday morning so it was pretty quiet, sounds like it might get busier on weekends. Would like to come back and do the mountain when I have more time.

Very nice hike with great views! Don’t think many would walk the road from the first parking lot if they knew there was plenty of parking at the trail head - believe me, don’t waste your time walking the road, just drive the (narrow) road up to the trail head and you’ll be glad you did.

Jim was great tour guide

Don't listen to the other post's when they say that there is obstructed views. When you get to the top, you think there is no view but you have to go down about 200 feet and there's a clearing and the view is spectacular. 180 degree views. Highly recommend!!!!

Really liked the hike overall, especially since able to get up close to the falls. The place seems to get very busy though, appears to be a local hangout. Further down the trail along the lake is a cove that had 15 to 20 boats filling it up, lots of noise at that point. If plan to venture here you do have to drive about 5 miles down a dirt road to get there.

This hike was amazing. It was only 1.8 or 2.0 miles and it only took an hour or a little bit more to hike. The views were amazing! Would totally recommend it!

This hike was so much fun! Parked at Shelving Rock Falls Lot #1 and took about an hour to get to Calf’s Pen. Then my 11 and 13 yo sons jumped off the cliffs and had a blast. Hike back was the same. I would not call this difficult since there isn’t a ton of uphill but it is dangerous because the trail is right next to the water and at one point my 11 year old slipped off the trail and actually fell in! Luckily it was only 3-4 feet down and we pulled him out unharmed. Be careful!!

Great overall hike for some perfect views! Take this recommended Loop and you wont be disappointed. No part of this trail is too hard that a family cant do. We got to the top in 45min, & continued on to bushwack to Erebus (that takes some planning). Feel free to send me a message for best recommended route. Enjoy!

If you heading to see shelving rock falls, be sure to do this quick hike to catch some summit views of lake George too. Very easy hike for any age or active level.

Pending where you park, we parked lot #3, you back track along the road a bit and it takes maybe 20 minutes to get to the falls. If you go past the falls trail markings are okay and you make your way along the lake. Wish it was a bit more of an exciting hike to get to the falls. Never did make it to the peak of Shelving rock which was lot #4, maybe next time!

Nice connecting trail from Buck to Sleeping Beauty.

Began at the Hogtown parking lot and did the trail to the summit, then the pond and back. We take our time so it took all morning. First time that we had done a mountain summit and it was incredible! Plan on going again in the fall as the view must be wonderful then.

Loved it and can’t wait to go back

Did the trail yesterday. It is not marked but is pretty easy to follow. You do need to have decent skills to climb some of the spots because there are narrow spots. Views are great!

Fun hike, a bit rocky at times, great view at the top. Would definitely hike again!

Excellent views and a super easy hike.

Hiked up for sunrise, still an amazing hike which reward u with a fantastic view. Continue the hike to Erebus, which is kind of muddy and lack of view
