A very peaceful, secluded spot. It's not crowded, even on weekends. Even though the loop is short, there are steep slopes that make it somewhat challenging.

First off this is a treat, a nice walk i9n the country. However it is REALLY easy to miss the trail when the orange markings turn to white. We ended up way off the trail and added 2 miles recovering. I think one or two others did the same by the reviews. We had a party of four and still missed it. Beautiful day met maybe 3 others on the trail the entire time. Muddy in spots wear your crappy sneakers and I suggest a hiking stick. I use a broken hockey stick. It's moderate I'm 57 avg shape but you have some steep inclines. Take your time.

A very pretty, well marked trail. I’ll do it again. The walk along Daisy Hollow Road to get back to the starting area is less than thrilling, but still it’s a nice trail.

OK hike. Nothing to exciting or interesting, but a peaceful walk in the woods.

Great swimming hole and waterfalls. One of my favorite hikes in the area to bring the dogs!

Such an awesome trail. Very well maintained. We had absolutely no trouble finding our way. We started early so we could avoid traffic on the roads. Overall great trail.

We actually started at the North parking lot of the Roy H Park Preserve, but didn’t start recording until we started the Hammond Hill Loop. Anyway, this is quite a pleasant walk.

I am the person who built the trail, measured the trail with the Finger Lakes Trail Conference's top GPSing specialist who used top-of-the-line equipment, and measured it again by wheel to confirm the official length. I have several times reported the inaccurate mileage shown on this site regarding this trail, and the correct mileage--6.1 miles--has actually appeared more than once. But there seems to be always someone who thinks he or she knows better and somehow gets to overrule me! The 7.1 miles reported above as of this date has been up there before. It is wrong. That length belongs to the International Loop, which once was that long and currently, after a 2015 reroute, stands at 7.2 miles. For a more-detailed map and log, the best map to have is the one put out by the Finger Lakes Trail Conference. If those two hikers who reported somehow getting lost had had it, they would not have had any trouble with the loop. To find the map--which is always up-to-the-minute in accuracy, despite reroutes--go to https://fingerlakestrail.org/ and find main map M19. Click on M19 and hikers will find maps available for several loop trails in the area. To find this one, look for map code SpL. These are beautiful maps in full color and on water-resistant paper. Maps are also available in electronic form.

This is a beautiful trail one way. Very short and sweet.

Good walk, not difficult with very nice woodlands. Had a Raven accompany us.

Great hike. Just make sure if you take the trail on trails.com. You need to switch from the white to the orange about 2 miles in. Trials were in great shap

Nice trail, great for kids if you follow the “Story book” trail. A book to read and creek to get feet wet.. my kids love it!

This is a beautiful trail and well maintained. However, we completely missed the turn where the Spanish Loop Trail splits from the FLT (the midpoint of the loop on the map). coming from the counterclockwise direction, the trail is BEHIND you. Unless you are really watching for it it is easy to miss (on shared part the blazes are white. At the split the blazes turn orange, behind you, which is also where a check in box for the FLT is located). We ended up doing an extra mile on the FLT before checking the map again and realizing we were off the loop. It would be useful to add a marker or sign with an arrow pointing the hiker to turn around at that point to stay on the loop. Or adding dual orange/white blazes on the shared section of the trail so it's more obvious when you're off trail.

This was a gorgeous trail, so many beautiful sights! Found it kind of hard to find the trail head so basically I would suggest parking in the very open parking lot to the right once you get the the location, and just crossing the road! It was pretty empty to me, but I also just came after a rain storm so that may have been why. Definitely want to come back and explore more of the trails here!

Great loop trail, however if you follow the red trail, which is part of this loop, I would rate it as moderate. Well marked, enjoy the stream crossings.

This is an underrated gem. The trail is well-marked with NYSDEC markers. It passes through many different kinds of forests and there is wonderful alpine scenery. All of the other trails in this trail network are also very good and hikers have the option of doing just a short walk but there are other possibilities for 10+ mile routes.

Fun walk in the woods with some minor climbs. Mostly peaceful, some brooks to cross although most were dry when we were here (July). Good place for a run. Nothing mind blowing, but good solitude.

I hiked this solo the day after July 4th and didn’t run into a soul. It was a good walk , the trails and makers were in good shape, and I loved finding the chairs about 1/2 way through. My only issue was the 2 road marches down Daisy Hollow Road at the start (I hiked the loop counterclockwise) and then from Adams turning up Owego Hill Road (This is not apparent on the All Trails map). I don’t have a copy of the FLT trails maps for the area but plan to get one ASAP and hopefully the trails are better marked on that. Overall though it was a good day and a worthwhile trail!

Very easy to get lost. Make sure to follow the marks on the trees. You have to cross the streams several times so bring your ugly shoes. Very quite and scenic. Highly recommend !!
