What a beautiful walk on great wide trails. Likely perfect for Mt. biking as well. Trails aren’t marked well but just stay right then head left and you’ll make a big loop. As for the tower, if you can’t find it you likely shouldn’t be in the woods without a guide

Lovely, mellow amble through cool mixed hardwood forest. Very easy wide paths, but LOTS of diverging paths that didn’t seem to be represented on the All Trails maps, but still easily navigated. In all, a nice break from in-town Cooperstown crowding. Nice farm-to-table cafe (Origins) just up the road from trailhead.

Wonderful trail, but could state where the tower is on the map. It was a bit hard to find at first, but if you stay straight on the wide black trail you will run right into it. Great experience overall!

Trail wasn’t very well marked. Great park with lakefront beach, tons of picnic tables and BBQ pits. A few nice playground sets for kids to play on. Overall a great park, just disappointed that the trails weren’t well marked.

Boring, not much to see

Nice trail

A bit misleading you can’t actually get near the tower because of the fence around it. Trail isn’t marked, but still a nice short hike.

Trail isn’t marked, and if you follow the trail on this map it doesn’t bring you to the tower. But the trails are clear, and very easy to walk.

Easy climb, but not a lot of grand sweeping views except at the beginning and the trail markers could stand to be touched up. But overall, a good warm up hike.

This is a easy but scenic trail that is appropriate for children and dogs. The trail is ideal for XC skiing.

First of all, unless we missed something, this is by no stretch of the imagination a HARD hike, nor does one have to be a "very experienced adventurer" to enjoy it. There are a few steep hills, but nothing overly strenuous (and many of the hills are avoidable). There are numerous side trails, not all of which are well-marked, so it's easy to lose one's bearings. The trail shown in the map is not comprehensive of the entire trail system. It's important to note that the tower is at the end of the trail marked in black, and only takes a few minutes to get to.

All-in-all, a very pleasant hike, mostly through a forested area with fern underbrush. We spent about two hours hiking and checking out the tower (which is, unfortunately, surrounded by a fence and inaccessible).

As one of the caretakers for the family that owns the land from county Rt 33 to Chicken farm, they have asked me to post that it is private land and unless you have written permission to please stay off of it. I do not have any info on the land from Chicken Farm on. Thank you

We attempted to find the trail but it seemed to only be a four-wheeler trail that went off into the woods...did we miss something?

This is an incredibly easy (very flat; well maintained trail) stroll through the woods that ends at an overgrown field. There is a footpath through the field to a pond, and farther down the footpath are views of Otsego Lake.

We took the pup (he loved it), but make sure dogs are on leash, especially at the beginning of the trail, as it is the K9 training facility for the NY State Troopers.

Decent trail. starts off with a continuous gradual incline and then is easy the rest of the way. Not really any spectacular scenery. Animals are obviously very used to people being around.

Great trail! Make sure you enter on Chicken Farm Hill Road. I wouldn't say it's a hard trail by any means. Very leisurely. Trecked on July 31st Sunny and Hot.

I'm covered in mud, my shoes are soaked, and my thighs are aching, but it was an awesome ride out and back with the hill down from chicken farm rd being my favorite part. I wish I was 20ft taller so I could've seen the lake from the field at the end of the trail but it was still an awesome view. Saw another group of mtb riders heading up as we came back!

This is a fantastic gem in Cooperstown. Starting from Chicken Hill Road it is about 2 miles out to the field. A well maintained trail that is not technical and only a couple of moderate elevation changes.

You need to start the hike from Chicken Farm Hill, not County Rt 33. Look for the Trailhead Sign!

why does the sign say "no entry written permission only " ?? should you list this trail if its not open to the public?? Disappointed, drove all the way out here and not able to walk!

we went out to hike this and there are 2 significant drawbacks. One, the driving directions to get thee are wrong. We ended p in down town coopers town and had to ask for directions. The second problem we ran into was that the only marked trail was about a mile. There are other trails that I plan on going back to see if we can fine the 6.7 miles, but our experience this weekend was disappointing. The tower was beautiful though.
