The address took us to a place on the road, there was noting there :(

Over grown, narrow trail and bug spray is needed for mosquitoes. However it is vey pretty once you get to the water. Took our dogs and they enjoyed it!

Nice, moderate trail. Not much elevation change, but we did burnt hill loop from gorge trail/burnt hill road trailhead. Was lengthy and only challenging in a few muddy spots. Wear shoes you can get wet and muddy. It hadn’t rained much recently but there were still some pretty swampy spots. Was a lovely walk and it was cool to walk amongst the cows. Kerp your dog on the leash in the pasture for sure. Keep moving though - they don’t like you lingering, especially when your puppy keeps barking. We moved along swiftly and they turned to let us know they were watching. Nice round trip. Several decent primitive sites on burnt hill road. Blueberry patch was full when we came sat at 8 am. We didn’t plan to stay there - too close for us - but we wanted to check it out. The only difference between the campground and primitive sites was the toilet. We, as it seems everywhere we go, heard so much gunfire from a campsite up the road. Hundreds of rounds. Varying calibers. Sounded like they were getting wound up for a wild night when we headed out at 6 pm. I don’t mind a lil shooting- but good gravy. Just so much.

This trail kicked my butt! I am fairly new to trail riding and wanted to try and test my limits. This trail is close. I enjoyed riding it and in a few spots walking it. I do have to say I made it through some things I wouldn't have thought I could do. All in all I will be back.

I have to say this trail was challenging for me being a beginner to trail riding. I had a good ride including the walking on some of the steeper hills. I will be back.

A quick hike in and out. Well marked/worn trail. A nice quiet walk in the woods.

quick hike, remote and quiet. narrow trail with small inclines. Falls are small but serene

Took the dog for a quick 3 mile hike on a 10 degree day. Some light snow cover and very peaceful. The last stretch of road leading to the trail head is seasonal and probably not plowed, so if there's been a lot of snow, be prepared for that.

The trail just ends . Stream was beautiful. Very grown in . Well marked

Great hike, well marked but a very small trail. It was slightly difficult due to the incline. Well worth the trip to a beautiful waterfall. It looked as if nobody had hiked the trail in quite a while cause it was fairly overgrown, I needed a stick to guide back the shrubs. It made me worry about ticks off the brush. It had rained a lot so the brush got me pretty wet. I had cell reception the entire hike so that was good.

Found it to be a nice little trail for a quick hike got into the stream and cloned up the 3 falls to the top nice hike

A little overgrown (check for ticks afterwards) but good payoff at the end with a beautiful atream running down a ravine and a couple small waterfalls.

An otherwise pretty hike ruined by a lack of any trail maintenance. 3 miles of hiking through sludge and horse poo is not enjoyable. Best bet is to park on Mathews road and hike the meadow, turn around and hike back to your car. Hiking in the forest = mud hike that is terrible. Shame as a well cared for that have proper water management would make this hike special. It looks like this trail has not been serviced in a number of years

Great trail with some nice views, in the Fall with few leaves left on the trees anyway. The multiple waterfalls were beautiful, particularly the larger one near the bottom. Some interesting rock features along the way. There were a couple spots along the trail that were hard due to the incline, but they were short in duration. We did end up with quite a few ticks on us, so definitely, as always, check when you are done.

Nice easy trail that cuts through a cow pasture (cows present). Great views and nice wooded sections as well.

camping
Saturday, July 16, 2016

Was looking for a place to camp out for a night not too far out, but still far enough to feel embedded within the woods. Hiked around for a bit before we found a nice place to set up camp only about a mile or so away from where we parked our cars. A great place to go if you're looking for an easy camp.

Falls were dried up due to the lack of rain. It was still a great hike with some cool views. Definitely worth the trip.

Tends to get the first and longest lasting snow on the east side of Seneca Lake due to its high elevation which captures the moisture of the prevailing westerlies. There will often be snow there when the rest of the area is bare.

Heavily wooded, easy access from Watkins Glen. Can be a good hike on a clear Autumn day.

Hiked the Gorge Trail Loop today; well marked trail quite muddy at time but still nice. Fall colors are beautiful and the trail is covered with leaves.

My group and I stayed at a place along the trail that had a very stable shelter with fire pits. The clearing was very nice, and the view from the camp site was amazing. We had a great time in complete isolation. This is a good place to go camping if you like solitude and peacefulness.

Beautiful trails all within an easy drive of Watkins Glen, with lots of great spots to just pull over and camp at trail heads. The trails cycle back to the main road making it easy to extend or expand your run or walk as much as you want.

This looks like its part of the 12 mi Interloken trail. Its the Finger Lakes National Forest and part of the Finger Lakes Trail. It's a beautiful and varied trail. There are many ponds (I see at least a couple of pictures of Teeter Pond), pastures, woods with thick canopy, old roads that haven't been roads in years, and more. I've been there in Summer and Autumn. Highly recommended.
