Brant Lake, New York Map

Beautiful December day. Trail was Ivey with muddy areas and some snow. Micro spikes were helpful.

A real gem near Brant Lake! A little snowy in spots and where it’s icy it’s thick. Did it with others who wore yak trax the whole way but was able to do it without. Beautiful views always

Great hike into the Pharaoh Wilderness. Plenty of parking space. Start off hiking down the old dirt roadway (not passable via car) to what used to be a parking lot. Following AllTrails, you’ll cross a wooden footbridge through a marsh until you enter the forest (another check in / sign in spot) and you’ll continue into the forest. The trail is wide and well marked. You’ll reach a short bridge over a stream and continue through the forest to Pharaoh Lk. There are spots along the trail for scenic views. You’ll come upon a way point where you can take other trails to other destinations. Lean-To’s and a restroom are at this location. There’s a small bridge w/ a great view of the narrows. I continued to follow the blue blazes and AllTrails map. To me the best scenic view was from the way point foot bridge as opposed to where AllTrails takes you. Trail was easy enough and in a great forest setting. Would recommend for an skill level. I’d say it’s kid friendly.

It’s been a while, (30 years), since I’ve been here. I was surprised to see a “moderate” rating. Don’t let that scare you away. This trail is well kept, and easily traversed. If you have a higher vehicle, you can take about .6 off, by driving to the actual trailhead, not the first parking lot. The camping areas were clean, and the exact same as the last time I was there...which was nice to see. Thanks to all the people that visit, for keeping it beautiful.

Lovely view of Brant Lake. Sooo many switchbacks.

Like many of the other comments, I consider this a fairly easy hike because it's flat, wide, and gentle throughout. Great for a morning stroll or for a quick trail run in the morning with a dog. I spent a week at Lake Schroon and enjoyed this trail enough to do it twice that week. It was particularly nice compared to the more overgrown, buggy Sucker Brook Trail.

Short hike but lots of elevation climb. Views of Brant Lake at top. Stop for lunch or a beer at The Hub after, good food.

This is a lovely trail, and the lake is really pretty. I would definitely rate this hike as easy though. It is pretty much flat. Also if you park in the lot the hike is actually 8 miles, not 6. It is a .6 mile walk on a dirt road to get to the trail head shown on this map. Then there really isn't anything at the end of the trail on this map. You have to walk at least .4 miles to get to a lean to and area to hang out, and that is the first lean to on the East side. More walking to get to other places. Anyway, love this hike. There are nice areas to pitch a tent near the lean to area as well, which is what i would do :D

Good hike and i would say easy to moderate. The bugs were bad so we did the trail really fast

Fairly easy, quick hike. Awesome payoff with views of the length of Brant Lake. In summet stop at The Hub next to trailhead when done for some great craft beers as a reward.

Easy mild hike in and great camping area at the lean-to’s. This was a fun overnighter and our dog thoroughly enjoyed being lakefront! Bring tons of mosquito repellant.

Nice view from top. Easy trail to follow, steep at times ,worth the climb.

This is a pretty easy and standard up and down that has a few twists and turns as you follow the red markers and bike trail. It was a muggy wet day when I did it so it was very muddy, but the trail was still pretty easy to follow. There’s a lookout point about 2/3 of a mile up overlooking brant lake to the north east. Continue on to reach the wooded summit about 1/5 of a mile from there. This trail is recommended for a quick trek as I did it in about 40 minutes of moving time.

Hiked Aug 5 2018 with the family. 3hrs. Easy for the conditioned hiker, inclines were tough on the non-hiker. View at the top and ice cream at the Hub at the bottom.

Just returned from a three night trip. Took the south entrance trail in which was wet and muddy. Both parking lots were busy on Thursday with a number of groups there for fishing. Poles are recommend especially if carrying gear to help with balance and navigating some of the higher water spots. This portion of the trail is wide and well traveled compared to other parts of the park. We stayed in lean-to number 2 which is on the east side of the lake. Very large space with great access to the lake for water.

From April 6 - Great hike into Pharoah Lake. Some wet spots, ice and snow - microspikes recommended! The boardwalk and bridge crosses are nice - water is high in the creek. Lake is still mostly frozen. Quiet and peaceful day in the woods!

Great easy hike in the fall, beautiful view of lake from watch rock lean to. It was 9.6 miles from the parking lot and back, but very easy hiking.

Beautiful hike even in the rain. Stayed at the watch rock lean-to on the west side which had amazing views. The last 1.2 miles had the most inclines compared the the east side which had very little (at least to lean-to #2). Many furry friends looking for food at night so make sure all of your food is somewhere safe. It felt like the trail signs marking the mileage was a little off. There was also a canoe, row boat and a raft left at a few sites for anyone to use, I would be careful because I did notice some patches. Can’t wait to do it again sometime.

Just got home after hiking it. It was great! We haven't hiked in a long time, and we have a 4-months-old puppy that we want to go with us, but we didn't want her to get discouraged. Beautiful walk (because it was flat all the way), around 8-9 miles round trip, not too crowded, loaded with mushrooms, if you know what to pick. We loved it!!! Lean-tos were occupied by people camping, but we sat by the lake, our older dog loved swimming, our daughter fed the fish, it was beautiful!!! Highly recommended for a family long walk or a camping adventure.

Great little hike up to a breathtaking view. Well maintained with a nice bar and bakery down at the base to come back to.

We really enjoyed this hike. It was about a mile from the main parking lot to the trailhead then another 3 miles to reach the lean-to on the east side of the lake. The trail was pretty flat and wide in most areas, and not steep. We hiked to the lean-to and had a great view of the lake. A few people were swimming in the beautiful, cool water. It was a lovely fall day, and we saw quite a few hikers. We didn’t go around the lake, as I believe it would add another 6 miles to the hike, but it would be awesome to camp overnight and add the lake loop trail.

Great water views on loop, but 3 miles from trailhead to lake. Muddy trail in May.
