trail running

This is a flat, wide dirt and gravel packed Trail suitable for bikes, strollers, and runners. Not a lot of elevation change, but you do see plenty of birds and wildlife. Takes you all the way up past Ballston Lake.

We enjoy the trails here, but have gotten lost many times.

Decent walking trail to start your morning.

Winter hike with scout

Scout and I did the winter loop. Great day

Great winter hike .

Decent area for a quick walk for someone who has no escape from society’s walls but as for trail running....not the place

Nice little walk. Saw a deer when I went in October while waiting for my car to get repaired in the garage near by. Also lots of birdhouses from an area wide birdhouse making event. Saw alot of cool ones.

Decent place for a quick walk and for some solitude but park seems to be forgotten about and trails are becoming less than ideal. Lots of wet spots and in the spring and summer, expect to have about twenty mosquito bites before leaving.

Not a hiking trail, but a nice little place to walk the dog or run the kids if you’re in the area. VERY wet places on the trail right now, but doable with the right footwear.

Nice trails, but rather poorly maintained and lacking trail maps at each of multiple entrances. Interpretive signs are in poor repair and trail marking is inconsistent. It's not at all just a few small loops as the AllTrails map makes it appear.

beautiful trails, great pond to sit and have a picnic by. not well marked trails at all and there are a lot of trails. know where you are going because it is easy to get lost in there especially once the leaves have fallen.

I really enjoyed that there were so many trails to choose from. It was like a choose your own adventure and you might get a little lost (which I did)!

This is a nice easy trail. I've walked it many times. Its great for bike riding and cross country skiing as well.

Great for family bike ride. Some areas south are gravel.

This was a great walk with the kids on 95 degree day. Cool and shady beneath the trees. The kids waded in the pond to cool off a little. I took a fishing pole out there just to see what I could catch. It wasn't much to catch but I caught a few and threw back. A great place for a short relaxing walk.

Trails were nice but really need more markers

This preserve is great for walking your pup. Trails are great for all seasons.

Good wide trails. Perfect for running, or just enjoying a nice walk with the kids. Trails well maintained.

Not really a hiking trail. More of a dog park with an area for unleashed dogs. Not my cup of tea but now I know. Very lackluster.

Easy trail, all flat. Nice park, perfect for a dog walk. Trailhead map shows extensions that have not been built yet.

Pretty decent way to spend a couple of hours eith friends and our dogs.

Really nice spot that is easy for kids with a little something to see. Surprisingly quiet despite being so close to traffic and the surrounding area.

Tried to start at oak rd in BS and the trail was closed.

Took a short loop around. Still a bit muddy but a nice walk along the creek. Looks like it be nice to fish or tube.

Walked a couple trails while I was fishing with my dog. The trails are wide and easy to navigate. The fishing isn't to good.

Flat, Easy, Accessible from multiple areas. Great for biking and walking. Baby geese when the time is right, near Mechanicville at the beginning of the trail. Heavily trafficked with multiple stops for food, even a bar right at the intersection of route 9. If you aren't expecting a hike out of this or something crazy it is right for you. Quite something to do the entire trail on a bike though.

Hiked the Zim Smith Trail today. Started at 11:00am on the dot at the end of Oak Road in Ballston Spa. It was very warm today, very wet and sloshy the whole way. The trail is nice and very wide open. You will hear the road the whole time. It is very close. You'll pass by Curtis Lumber, Stewarts and then even the Northway on into the morning church hustle of Round Lake on a Sunday. It's an active trail and saw many people on the trail. It seems people congregate in certain areas on this trail and don't roam too far from their respective parking lots. This trail connects all kinds of other little parks and areas along the way. No one really seems to be tackling the entire trail though. Another thing I noticed is no one wears proper footwear. Large postholing & bare booters everywhere. Did notice some snowshoe tracks that made me smile. People down this way don't have the same respect that north country hikers are accustomed to. I had read that this was a 9 mile one way hike. Much to my surprise I arrived in Round Lake at Leah's Cakery parking lot at 1:00pm exactly. I guess the trail continues on down past and into Clifton Park for a few miles. I did a clock in the car roughly on my way back home. Im figuring from Oak St to Round Lake is around 6.5-7 miles. This trail is flat as flat can be. Not once did I have to stop to catch my breath. If you happen to need to do that, there are many benches along the way. Not overly scenic but everything is more beautiful in the winter. Didn't see the Indian Guy carving which was somewhat dissappointing but i'll live. Decent walk, would possibly do again.
