This 415-acre preserve is located in New Scotland and Berne, within Albany County, NY. Crossing several small streams and winding through a variety of woodland habitats, the 2.5 mile long orange-marked trail at Hannacroix Ravine Preserve has a few steep climbs.
There are some 100-year-old hemlocks along the creek. Other trees, most common in the area west of the creek, include beech, yellow birch, basswood, red oak, sugar maple and red pine. In the spring, visitors often find a brilliant display of wildflowers, including columbine, hepatica, Dutchman’s breeches and bloodroot.
