This was a good hike, I took my kids my youngest is 8 years old. It was challenging enough to keep their interest but not so steep that they were calling for breaks every minute. The trail is very rocky so I would keep that in mind if you were to trail run; I would power hike this one. Typical forest setting, there was a small aspen grove, plently of shade and every so often a view out towards Edgewood. Wanted to go further and connect with the Crest Trail but my kids and their friends had enough.

Hard to believe this trail is moderate! I think we need more classification levels because the difference between this trail and some others (also moderate) is night and day. I know it's not quite hard but it's on the high end of moderate! Still, the view at the top makes it worth it.

Starts at high altitude & in the trees, this trail provides cooler temps & shade with nice vistas looking east. Trail ends at a fence which marks joining the South Crest Trail. If you go straight and follow the SCT a few hundred yards, you will find an assortment of unmarked paths off to your left that will lead to a nice outcropping of ledge exposing nice vistas looking east. Highly recommend this half day hike.

Good shade, not much of a view

Lovely trail. Not too busy. Amazing views especially from the summit. Pretty wildflowers and cool temperatures.

Always enjoy this trail Fall/Winter times when temps usually don't rise above mid-50s. Plenty of bird activity as sun was setting.

easy hike with some amazing views!

Visiting from PHX only had a couple hours to sneak in a hike. Pretty solid trail and a good climb I recorded 1591 AEG with all but 20 feet of it coming on the hike up to where the trail joins Embudo at the ridge. Wish I had more time would have loved to continue up to South Sandia Peak as the ridgeline trail did not offer much in terms of views. There were a couple really cool boulder outcrops below the ridge that provide great viewpoints back down the trail and valley you hike up through. Lots of scat on trail possibly small blackbear, not a scat expert, but was definitely not K9 or feline

Hiked up Pino, then down Cienega. Trail is gully washed downhill for about half of it. Quite a few downed trees on trail. Lots of dead upright and downed trees in Cienega canyon. Road was closed to upper trailhead, and had to hike around a bit before finding our ride. Pretty area, I'm sure it's nice when the stream is going and not so dry, but overall area needs thinning, and trail needs some maintenance work done.

Easy trail to follow, good burn, and spectacular views. Definitely will do again!

See recording from today. The only parts recorded are an easier way to access Oso Ridge from Embudito (it’s just the second left after the Embudito trail marker), a direct way to South Peak from the top/end of the Oso Ridge trail, and the path back through Embudito Canyon off of Embudito trail (which cuts at least half a mile off the trip and of course is another great way up).

Enjoyed the trail, great views. Didn’t find the springs...

This hike has the best view from the top! It snowed on us the whole way. One thing it doesn’t tell you is when you reach what looks like end on this app you reach a intersection and go through the fence and it takes you to the top! Great time for sure

Great views

great for running, despite the rocks it's doable.

Used this trail to access South Sandia Peak and the crest trail. Decent elevation gain but overall moderate hike. Great views at the top of both side of the mountain. Trail easy to follow and well marked.

The top of the mountain has a gorgeous skyline view of the mountains and the City of Albuquerque. My German Shepherd also enjoys this trail. At the trailhead, they do have a bathroom facility. I recommend you go early, as there is limited parking.

South facing trail that has a good incline. Definitely want to hike during the cooler months. Nice views at the top of trail.

Beautiful views. Great place to enjoy the sunset!

great hike and some good exercise accompanied with ace views. definitely a popular trail so don't come here for solitude but in all ways a nice way to spend two hours outdoors.

and for those so inclined the trail connects to others if you wanna keep trekking....

Beautiful trail. A little chilly but it is December. Amazing views from the top.

I liked this trail. It was a pretty simple trail starting out, but got really sunny, not much shade. Great views once you got higher. The trail got pretty steep once you got a mile and half in, so the steepness might not be everyone's cup of tea. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I'd definitely go again.

Gradual incline up, nice views towards the top! Lots of worn rocks on trail, but not too bad to manage. Nice easy to follow trail that winds in and out of forest to ridge top. Good workout!

This trail is an excellent trail which begins from the same trail head as the Sandia Cave Trail, just take the trail that leads up the mountain on the right after leaving the parking lot.
The easy to follow trail is mostly shady and not very rocky. I did not go all the way to the end because I had limited time but next time I will. The views of the canyon are spectacular!

Pretty easy hike for beginners (me). The smells and sights were lovely and there wasn't much traffic. There's also a cave close to the start which is fascinating. And I was proposed to during this hike, so that just made the whole thing wonderful.

Amazing views, trail was easy to follow. Flowers were fully bloomed. If you're looking for a quick workout this is it! The rocks are slippery on the way down and it's a little narrow in some spots..but I enjoyed having no cactus bites ;)

Was a nice easy to moderate hike. I would rate it moderate because the trail is pretty rocky in some areas and requires some dexterity. Hiking boots definitely are a plus.

The turn off to the parking area isn't marked so be on the lookout for it. There are also no picnic tables, so if you want to relax and hang out a bit, bring chairs. Finally, the bathrooms were locked and not available.

Was an enjoyable hike with Husband, 9 yr old daughter, and myself.
