This was a great trail near picnic areas and a restroom. There were many trail choices to choose from depending on the mood, with shortcuts if you weren’t in the mood to finish on a longer trail. The ponderosa are massive in this area and the quiet little creeks put us in a serene mood. I would hike here again,

Very well marked and maintained. Good running trail. Lots of other choices if you want to go longer or climb higher. Pretty views, access to bathroom in summer months.

needs better markings.

Less of a hike, more of a stroll. Should be rated easy. Good forest views

Fabulous. Many trail choices. Well kept up.

Very nice hike! Will do again.

Great trail. Lovely flowers and got to see a Texas Horned Toad Lizard. This trail had quite a few folks on it of various ages. Would recommend this easy to follow trail.

This is a fun trail that's easy to get to and provides a good workout for 60 year old plus folks like us.
Don't expect published maps to look like the trail. The member shared tracks are much more helpful.

This entire trail system has been rerouted from the maps on AllTrails. The new system is the best of the best (along with the Grindstone area)!

We did not have the new map and weather was rolling in so we ended up bushwhacking back on the old trail to avoid a severe thunderstorm.

Get a new map and stick to the trail - they are all awesome. I see deer EVERY time.

Only issue was that we couldn't enjoy the hike because storms were threatening us the whole time.

Other than that, it is a great little hike. I consider it similar to Divisadero in Taos.

Loved it! Great views of Ruidoso and perfect weather. We took our two girls ( 6&12) and they really enjoyed it.

On our first day in Ruidoso we did this amazing hike. Just a few feet from the parking lot, we were by ourselves, and that was the case the entire trail. Most people seem to stay close to the road (the lower creek trail). At about a mile up, we saw this beautiful female elk. She was not afraid of humans and allowed us to take pictures and videos. Although I had downloaded this map, it did not seem correct in a few locations. Luckily the trail itself had excellent signage, which we followed. The map was frequently showing us off trail, and it was not just a bit; it was very much off. The other maps we used for other trails did not have this problem.
