Beautiful trail. Started solo around 8 am and was almost immediatey greeted by the howls of coyotes around the first curve. I stopped to listen and was able to spot 3 coyotes heading up the mountain. Was hesitant to proceed because I thought they would jump me at some point lol but carefully made my way through. Lots of loose rock along the path but this trail is highly recommended and worth checking out.

No trouble finding the trailhead as lots of cars were parked there on a beautiful Sunday. You have to climb over a cattle gate to get to the trail. This is an easy hike to and through a beautiful slot canyon. Good for kids or when you just want an easy walk in fresh air. You can choose to go through the canyons and back or after the canyon go up a hill to a scenic overlook area and back. Pretty clean, except a bag of dog poop someone left behind (rude). I’d recommend bringing your mask as the canyon has some very narrow areas and you can’t social distance when you pass.

Enjoyed this hike. However, the first half mile is fairly steep and not very scenic. This, don’t get discouraged thinking the entire hike is like the beginning. The best part of the hike is the loop. Lots of great views and more vegetation and trees. I was surprised how many deer droppings I saw. I didn’t see any deer, but there is obviously a healthy population living around the loop. The only tricky part of the hike is the back side of the loop where there is a trail that goes even further back. It is easy to take that other trail. I did the loop going clockwise and liked how it played out.

Other reviewers were not lying about the bushwhacking. This trail was really overgrown, snagging my flat-seamed pants, clawing at my hair and scraping my hands. Other reviewers were also correct that the All Trails map is still wrong and the Narrows is to the right at the final fork - I did that route first to confirm. The narrows aren’t all that majestic and I got a bit turned around after passing the actual narrow bit, following a false trail up and almost over a rock before seeing the real trail below. The trail also doesn’t end where All Trails says it does, but I decided not to follow it further - you wind up behind the Needles and even if it connected to another trail on that side, you’d need to put in serious miles to loop back. Instead of that, I thought I’d check out the left side of the fork on the way back, but the trail really does peter out into dirt and rocks and cacti - I got halfway to the end before my dog got a spine in her paw pad and I decided we’d seen enough. The hike back to trailhead was more scenic than the hike in, and I will say that I only encountered one other group on the actual trail and another by the trailhead, and this was a Sunday morning. There’s also shade from the mountains and some trees. If you only had one day to hike the Organs, I wouldn’t choose this route.

Took our four kids (12, 8, 6, 4) around the loop today. We took someone’s recommendation and went clockwise around the loop. I’m glad we did! Some of those hills on the other side would’ve been brutal to get up with all our kids. Definitely make sure to have the app up and GPS running because as others have mentioned, in some spots there is no trail at all. You’re just bushwhacking through super overgrown (and scratchy!) bushes and cacti. Wear long pants and good shoes. I also don’t recommend it for beginners or people who aren’t in good shape. Some of the hills are very steep (both up and down), and there’s a lot of loose rock and sand to slip on. That said, if you can make it, the views are amazing!

Wonderful trail, beautiful views. Warning for fall/winter hikers: this will be primarily shaded after about 2pm so bring something warm. Half of the trip is uphill, half back downhill. Makes for a great loop.

Definitely one of the better little hikes in this area. Pretty views, variety of vegetation, numerous birds, and lots of animal sign. Trail is well marked. Abundant loose rock, so watch your footing. Will definitely do this one again.

Do yourself a favor and hike this trail! The views alone make it worthwhile, but then there is a historic settlement and ruins you get to see at the end.....so awesome The trail is easy-to-moderate in difficulty.

Amazing hike with views from the moment you get to the parking area. Make sure to have cash, $5 fee. Very well maintained trail but loose gravel for much of the trail. We had four kids ages 6-10 and all enjoyed it.

It was a challenge for me but I think it was definitely worth it. Start early if you’re doing it during the winter months (limited sunlight) carry plenty of water and a trash bag for snack wrappers etc. Go with good company. Also all trails is the way to go!

Excellent trail. Not too strenuous for novice hikers. Brought my girlfriend to ease her into hiking/camping with this day hike. The views are amazing, and there are plenty of campsites to choose from here at the campground. There are also a handful of spots to camp along the trail. This was well worth the trip.

Definitely a challenge, especially toward the end. As you near the peak and ridge area, expect to encounter shifting sandlike terrain, which is also a challenge on the way back down. my trekking poles came in handy for this section. There are some large boulders to navigate the last 1/2 mile or so to the peak. be cautious when choosing a path - there are steep dropoffs in places. the view is spectacular! I agree with another reviewer who recommended long pants. Brush is dense at points. I did come down with a few nicks and scratches.

First time with trekker poles — made all the difference for the trail above the pass. Lots of loose rock and slipping, so go slow. The views are worth the effort. Amazing.
