A slightly longer version of the Baylor Canyon Short Version. This takes you about half a mile further to the switchbacks where there are rocky points to climb and get some great views of the valley below.

My first visit out! Gorgeous surroundings! Early this morning I was met on the trail by quite a few other hikers. I was pleased to see them also implementing social distancing practices. It made for a relaxing hike. I wanted to keep going to the peak but the new boots I'm breaking in said otherwise

Solid hike, relatively easy climb to with good views along the way. Not the most epic peak view but still worth it. We finished in about and hour and forty minutes. Enjoy!

Tortugas is sort of an outdoor gym - there are several options for trails and multiple routes to the top, with trails ranging from a slow steady incline to steeper steady incline to rocky step up routes. it is suited to various activities, so ot is heavily trafficked with hikers, runners, walkers and mountain bikers. Scenery isn't astounding but you can see the Organ range to one side and the Las Cruces city view to the other.

We are novice hikers in our late 50’s, the hike was challenging, beautiful and exhilarating. Took us 4 hours but the younger folks in the trail were at least twice as fast. We definitely recommend this trail. Take water, trail shoes, we used walking sticks which were helpful.

It’s a great trail very challenging. The elevation gain is about 1600 feet. And it’s 4 1/2 miles. Took us almost 5 hours

Great trail. The path was wide and well kept the whole way to spring. Trail is made of gravel. The spring had little water when we went, but the views are beautiful. The beginning of the trail is more desert scrub but it changes to more oak and cedar forest as you get closer to the mountains. At the base of the mountains there is an old abandoned resort that adds a historical note to the hike. The trip out and back took us about 2.5 - 3 hours with a few stops. We thought it was a relaxing hike and good to bring children. Would recommend and do again.

Interesting trail. Got long toward the end, the trail is not clearly marked in a lot of areas and we had to improvise. Would do it again.

As a relatively new hiking addict, this was definitely my most challenging hike yet but also the most rewarding. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The weather was cool and somewhat humid from earlier rains but I think that actually added to the experience. I would definitely recommend it!

Ok, so I didn't do 8 miles in just over 2 hours... I did 3 miles in about an hour and 45 minutes and then drove 5 miles down the road until I remembered to stop the recording. This is my 2nd time on this trail, I did it back in August. This is my first time recording it though (obviously). the scenery is beautiful and the ups and downs are gentle. When I hiked this back in August, it was my first hike in almost 30 years (since my 20's) I think it's a great place for someone to start.

We loved this trail. Beautiful view of the mountains, and the sanitarium and spring is an added bonus. Kid friendly trail, as for dogs, there are certain spots where they don’t want you taking them. Overall, would recommend. Beautiful!

Pretty well maintained and not too difficult. No real grandiose view at the midway point, but good views along the way.
