Nice and easy trail. Kid friendly. Even saw some deer near the path.

Do yourself a favor and hike this trail! The views alone make it worthwhile, but then there is a historic settlement and ruins you get to see at the end.....so awesome The trail is easy-to-moderate in difficulty.

Amazing hike with views from the moment you get to the parking area. Make sure to have cash, $5 fee. Very well maintained trail but loose gravel for much of the trail. We had four kids ages 6-10 and all enjoyed it.

It was a challenge for me but I think it was definitely worth it. Start early if you’re doing it during the winter months (limited sunlight) carry plenty of water and a trash bag for snack wrappers etc. Go with good company. Also all trails is the way to go!

Definitely a challenge, especially toward the end. As you near the peak and ridge area, expect to encounter shifting sandlike terrain, which is also a challenge on the way back down. my trekking poles came in handy for this section. There are some large boulders to navigate the last 1/2 mile or so to the peak. be cautious when choosing a path - there are steep dropoffs in places. the view is spectacular! I agree with another reviewer who recommended long pants. Brush is dense at points. I did come down with a few nicks and scratches.

First time with trekker poles — made all the difference for the trail above the pass. Lots of loose rock and slipping, so go slow. The views are worth the effort. Amazing.

Not bad if you don’t mind walking through cacti and other sharp objects along the ridge line with no designated trail on that portion of the route. There are better trails with established routes.

Great trail. The path was wide and well kept the whole way to spring. Trail is made of gravel. The spring had little water when we went, but the views are beautiful. The beginning of the trail is more desert scrub but it changes to more oak and cedar forest as you get closer to the mountains. At the base of the mountains there is an old abandoned resort that adds a historical note to the hike. The trip out and back took us about 2.5 - 3 hours with a few stops. We thought it was a relaxing hike and good to bring children. Would recommend and do again.

I hiked this trail last week with a guided group. Start as early as possible. We started at 7:30am and finished around 5:30pm. We took lots of short breaks. The climb is very challenging but even more brutal on the descent, IMO. You need at least one trekking pole. There is some rock climbing approaching the summit but with solid hand holds. We did not use the rope. I was grateful for the instruction from the guides to help me through that part. I drank over 3 L of water. This hike is very strenuous but also breathtakingly rewarding. I do not recommend attempting this hike without at least one person who knows the trail well. The GPS map is not reliable, and it is extremely easy to get lost and find yourself in trouble.

Ok, so I didn't do 8 miles in just over 2 hours... I did 3 miles in about an hour and 45 minutes and then drove 5 miles down the road until I remembered to stop the recording. This is my 2nd time on this trail, I did it back in August. This is my first time recording it though (obviously). the scenery is beautiful and the ups and downs are gentle. When I hiked this back in August, it was my first hike in almost 30 years (since my 20's) I think it's a great place for someone to start.

HikingGreat!Scramble

Beautiful hike with great views. Its pretty much a scramble from the false peak up to the actual summit and some of the rocks are loose, so use caution...lost the trail at a couple of points but was able to get back on track easily.
