Great hike with great views that is decently challenging! You do definitely need to be in shape to make it all the way up to the top. I would highly recommend going with someone who’s know the trail, it is very easy to go off trail and get lost. Bring at LEAST 4 L of water, if it’s going to he hot day I would say 5-6 L.

Get hike for the family!

It’s a pretty decent hike. Make sure you wear pants. I had lunch at the Apache Cave. Great views and scenery.

I have guided groups to the Organ Needle summit for 12+ years and summited over thirty times. I would definitely recommend going with someone who knows the route. It is easy to get off-trail and find yourself in a dead end canyon. As a former member of county Search and Rescue, I know that many missions involve hikers who underestimate this hike and find themselves lost, out of water and daylight and/or injured. People have died in these mountains and the Needles hike is to be taken seriously. Having said this, it is an amazing hike and worth the risk if you do your proper research and go well prepared.

I thought it was a good trail. For some reason even though I was following the map, we ended up n the riverbed. The trail is ok, you will see a lot of wildlife. We did like 7.4 miles. Bring a lot of water and make sure to wear a good hiking shoes.

I started at La Cueva and went up the hill instead going back to the starting point. Bushwhacked a little on my way down from the hill towards Crawford Trail. It was a great hike.

Great day hike. The spring wildflowers were still in bloom, which is always a nice change to a lot of the hikes in this area. My kids enjoyed it, but as with most places in west Texas, watch out for rattle snakes.

Very easy hike. I started at La Cueva then bushwhacked to Crawford then to Dripping Springs.

You get some great elevation on this hike, and have nice views of white sands off the top. That said, the entire hike is exposed. It was almost 100 degrees when I hiked it, and I burned through my 3L of water pretty quickly. It would have been better to do it early in the morning, when the trail would be shaded.

Easy hike and have great view of Organ Mountain. No shade so wear a hat and bring a lot of water.

Great trail. No shade so bring a lot of water and take your time if you’re a first timer. Wear hiking shoes. Plenty of ways to go up, if you want to challenge yourself do the whole loop and go up. I would say it’s an easy hike.
