Easy and well maintained trail with neat rock features. We did this in July around 6pm. Some cacti were blooming. There are large rock cairns and white painted arrows to keep you on the trail. We made it into a 3.2 mile loop.

This is my favorite trail near Gallup by far. I want to reinforce that this is a dog friendly trail, too. My dog is only 4 pounds and she made it all the way to the top, but I ended up having to carry her down. BE CAREFUL on the descent, as the trail forks and isn't clearly marked which way is Church Rock Trail and Pyramid Trail. We ended up taking CR for a spell before we saw signs that labeled it as such. To be fair, we weren't paying extreme attention, but this trail is not marked adequately. Just be prepared for that!

Cool views. Trail is a lot of blow sand so appropriate shoes a must. It is steep in places but the trails crew has installed steps. Take water

Loved this trail... The hike is a bit of a workout... beats the gym every time! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

This is a great family hike. Not too many high places or really rough to navigate terrain. There is a cut off to the more challenging Pyramid trail if this is too easy.

I loved it! It's my first completed trail hike. We did lose the trail a little because once you get in pretty far there are no more signs or trail markers. Otherwise it was spectacular!

Not a bad little hike. Short.

Perfect little jaunt for the family. Dog friendly and plenty of places to rest and take in the view. Be careful when it's windy, the sand will cut you up.

Pyramid Rock Trail at Red rock state park is a challenging and beautiful hike. There are fantastic views throughout, especially once you get to the top of Pyramid Rock. The geology is amazing. The trail is well marked and there are benches along the way to take a breath and enjoy the views.

There is another hike in Red Rock State Park, but I am not sure how to add a new hike in AllTrails. There is a trail that connects the Pyramid Rock trail to the Churchrock Trail. You can park at either trailhead and hike in either direction. Once you finish the trail + the hike through the parking lot back to the other trailhead, it is a total of 4.75 miles.

Beautiful sandstone hike with amazing views. The trail leads through sandy areas, sandstone with steps carved out, and then you get to the base of Churchrock formation and you hike around the entire formation. Definitely recommend this hike.

This was a nice easy hike with our 6year old for the most part! We somehow got off the loop though as we ended at a rock point that we wouldn't have ever gotten off of. We turned around and walked back which made the hike 3.6 miles. We had the GPS on so not sure why it took us where it did . It was a beautiful scenery . We went in February so all plants were dead but lots of rock formations to look at and animal foot prints. The lion statue at the top was exciting for our 6 year old too. We are visiting from California so we will never come back to this spot but if I was a local I would do it again

Nice hike. You'll meet nice native people along the way. Take a camera.
