Very leisurely and enjoyable trail. Beautiful vegetation and small wildlife. Very quiet and no other people on the trail. City of Rocks is now one of my favorite places to stop and camp!

Excellent mixture of mild to difficult terrain. Some slide and steep areas. Trail map information to table top is not reflected on actual established trail. Actual trail is not well maintained with dangerous to tricky footing. Nice overcast afternoon made 6 plus mile hike very enjoyable!

My sister and I hiked this trail today (April 30th). It was a windy late afternoon hike which started off very flat and easy from the City of Rocks visitor center. We followed a pretty flat trail for about thirty minutes and then slowly it began to snake around and up the hill. Bring plenty of water because it is quite hot and there are few trees during the hike. A few benches were sprinkled on the trail if you like to sit and take in your surroundings. We really didn’t see too many flowers and there weren’t many birds. I would say be careful because it is about that time of year where snakes like to come out and bask in the sun. Me and my sister generally laugh and chatter on the trail. Snakes don’t like noise and if they hear you coming they don’t usually want anything to do with you. Either way, watch your footing and check rocks before sitting down. Aside from that it was very windy at the top of the hill and from what we saw, the way you come up is the way you go down. Altogether, the hike offered some really nice views at the top and wasn’t very hard to traverse.

Did this hike back in March. The weather was perfect and I was the only person on the trail. The view from the top is spectacular. See my video of this hike here: https://youtu.be/jjbAbcYEv_8
