Very nice easy trail with some great scenery. We even saw an Elk towards the end of the walk.

Love this trail, but be aware when the snow has come down. The snow sometimes melt and freeze over. It's not the safest when you're on an icy edge and not prepared.

Great trail. Beautiful canopy on most of trail with some beautiful meadows. Saw elk tracks, wild flowers and wild strawberries. Will be a go to trail for us for future outings.

Beautiful trail. Starts with a uphill hike but worth it. We didn’t see anyone and it was peaceful.

Awesome views, but very rocky. It is manageable though. Take bug spray during summer months. Saw several deer. A good family hike.

Parking was confusing since we were not camping in the campground and parked in the overflow area after asking one of the camp hosts.. Saw lots of elk. Trail was easy to follow and marked very well as it is for cross-country skiing during the winter. Mostly shaded except for the meadows. Will definitely do this trail again if we have the opportunity.

Wife and I enjoyed this trail. It's real close to town. Great views of the railroad tracks and White sands! Excellent choice especially if you're limited on time and can only hit up one trail as was our case.

Nice trail, pretty area, well marked and close to downtown Cloudcroft. Trailhead right off highway. Was plenty challenging for wife and I in mid 70s. Entire trail had cell service available. Enjoyed using to see our location on the trail with this app.

First hike. Really nice. Beautiful scenery. Well marked.

First mountain trail hike with our two littles! Beautiful scenery, great overlook, and not too hard for our 3 year old!

Good change of scenery throughout. Opens up into a very nice meadow perfect for a picnic. Definitely some elevation change and narrow rocky places so it would be difficult to do the whole trail with very young kids.

The entrance to this trail is inside a pay camping area so unless you luck out and get one of the four free parking places or are camping there it’s not very accessible.

Beautiful, woodsy, and cool.

Beautiful easy trail through a nice forest and great views of the White Sands

My granddaughter Natalia (10) and I hiked the whole loop under the shade of tall pine trees with a beautiful landscape in all directions. This is definitely one of the best trails near Cloudcroft and it was very easy to follow the path with the blue signs.

Nice trail easy to follow only down side was that several people did not clean up their dogs poop which was right I the middle of the trail.

Super Easy (:

Great trail, the elevation at almost 9000’ did slow us down a bit. But we did well being 60 and 64 years young!

A good trail with a few camping options along the way if you're a backpacker looking for some backcountry camping. We saw several other hikers and everyone was friendly and shared the trail well.

It was a nice day out in the middle of no where. i think if it was later in the season there would be more green which would make it even a better hike.

Me and my little one who is 4 years old did this trail today and it is perfect. Easy trail with easy clear signs to follow. Definitely going to do this one a few more times.

Our ‘go to’ trail. Very nice shaded trail walk for out dogs and it’s a nice loop.

Tough challenge on my MTB....but good fun

Did this trail on 04/07/2018. The weather was perfect. Only a little chilly at night. There is a small stream at the beginning of the trail but the rest of the trail was dry. Beautiful and well kept trail! Several flat spots for camping along the way. Going back this summer for sure!

It’s a wide trail looks as if atv’s use it often. We always take a small and medium sized dogs so it was a nice trail to take them on. We didn’t see a soul out there the entire trail. It’s all up hill going in and downhill all the way out. Very nice scenery.

Nice hike. Elevation climb is gradual and easy to navigate. Opens up to other trails for those who want to keep going. Great forested area!

Though the trail is still very muddy in many areas (I suggest taking a bag to put your hiking shoes in after and a second pair of shoes to put on before heading out), we were able to get through the whole trail and enjoyed the great views and solitude. Not many others were on the trail at the same time.

Only went in 3.7 miles. The steepest portion of the trail is the first 1.5 miles. It’s rather rocky as compared to the PNW. There were patches of snow but easily done in trail runners. Some slick mud in spots. Saw a beautiful bull elk at about 2.5 to 3 miles in. The trail stays in the trees the whole time and I’m guessing this would be a great hike in the warmer months.
