backpacking

A good trail with a few camping options along the way if you're a backpacker looking for some backcountry camping. We saw several other hikers and everyone was friendly and shared the trail well.

It was a nice day out in the middle of no where. i think if it was later in the season there would be more green which would make it even a better hike.

Me and my little one who is 4 years old did this trail today and it is perfect. Easy trail with easy clear signs to follow. Definitely going to do this one a few more times.

Our ‘go to’ trail. Very nice shaded trail walk for out dogs and it’s a nice loop.

Trail was great and lots of wildlife, trail maps on app are confusing as they do not match trail maps. Example: app says 2.8 miles but the are 8+ miles of trails in this trail system. We were happy with the eight miles!

amazing trail! the weather was perfect and I love how you can see White sands from there!!

Did this trail on 04/07/2018. The weather was perfect. Only a little chilly at night. There is a small stream at the beginning of the trail but the rest of the trail was dry. Beautiful and well kept trail! Several flat spots for camping along the way. Going back this summer for sure!

very pretty overlook, could have marked the trail a little bitbetter but overall it was very hiker friendly.

Nice hike. Elevation climb is gradual and easy to navigate. Opens up to other trails for those who want to keep going. Great forested area!

1 month living in the desert, this was a welcome treat. trees, sunshine,a little snow. We trekked with our dog and 4yr old. lots of other trails, we will be back soon.

Though the trail is still very muddy in many areas (I suggest taking a bag to put your hiking shoes in after and a second pair of shoes to put on before heading out), we were able to get through the whole trail and enjoyed the great views and solitude. Not many others were on the trail at the same time.

Only went in 3.7 miles. The steepest portion of the trail is the first 1.5 miles. It’s rather rocky as compared to the PNW. There were patches of snow but easily done in trail runners. Some slick mud in spots. Saw a beautiful bull elk at about 2.5 to 3 miles in. The trail stays in the trees the whole time and I’m guessing this would be a great hike in the warmer months.

This is one of my favorite trails. It’s got great views, solitude and flora and fauna. Easy to walk and pretty quick.

Just tried to hike this today. The trail was covered in snow and was VERY muddy. We tried to push on but the mud was so slippery that we were unable to continue. I’m sure it’s a great trail after the trail has dried out.

Great trail, particularly in the snow covered tracks!

We got a little lost towards the end where the trails converge, but just went back the way we came. Did this trail with a 7-year-old and 14-year-old who really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this hike. Beautiful scenery and there was some snow on the backside on the mountain when we went last weekend.

Me and my girlfriends had a great hike, with a great view!

I walked this trail in December. Didn't see anyone. There's some beautiful views, like far as the eye can see views, and the trail takes to a really lovely field where you can stop and rest or have a bite.

trail running

Awesome trail for running. Saw a moose, wild turkeys, and several deer. As long as you give them space, there's nothing to worry about. A bit muddy in spots, but that's part of the fun of trail running. Also saw bear tracks, but no bears. Definitely a favorite.

Its no wonder this trail is so busy! Its so enjoyable and felt great compared to a rather warm day down in the basin. There's a great little spot for sight seeing and the trail opens up to a beautiful meadow for lunch! Will be back again for sure!

With a toddler, it's one of the best hikes we have been on since moving here. He loves looking at the animal information signs and finding hiking sticks. The railroad is one of his favorite things to look at. and by the time we finish he is so tired we can hardly keep his eyes open. on the way back home. We love this one!

Beautiful, moderate trail. Will definitely be going back! Ps-we saw a lot of cows. As long as you ignore them, you’re fine!

It’s a lovely trail with a great view easy for kiddos and dogs. However if you go after a rain be weary the rocks make it a tad slick

I did this trail with my husband and our 2 dogs. The 10 mile loop took us about 5 hours to complete. If you do bring your dogs or even if you don't, be aware that quads and dirt bikes are allowed on the willie white trail. We came across 3 groups pf dirtbikers so we had to get off the trail and get our dogs as soon as we heard them in the distance.
