The entire trail is an ATV trail. We actually stayed away from it and walked along the dry creek on animal tracks. This opened up to alternating views of alpine and aspen tree cover and open meadows. There were so many wildflowers in the meadow. We didn't see a soul except for a bunch of cows. Our dogs had a blast running off leash. We did have to leash them when we came upon the cows. Overall, its a great hike when you want to get away from the heat. I highly recommend staying away from the ATV trail and taking the dry creek. There is plenty of dispersed camping at the trail head.
