Whew was it hot. Bring lots of water. Good views and wildflowers. Dog friendly.

It's an easy trail to do. There are several possibilities to do depending on your time. You can adjust the distance to your level. However, to be a State Park and to have to pay for, there is lack of facilities in my opinion.

We chose this trail after a heavy snowfall in Santa Fe and chose the clockwise direction as there was a bitterly cold wind blowing. The hike was made more interesting by the tablets with information re mining but it is still a very easy hike with some moderately good vistas. Just not a great hike.

Another nice trail that’s well marked and has several sites that were mines in the past. You can connect with several others trails in the State Park for more Vatican’s greater distances.

Trail is well marked and has some nice views of the Sandia’s, but it just isn’t that interesting or challenging.

Pretty easy trail, I'd say not quite 'moderate' despite some initial uphill at the beginning. Went yesterday with my wife and 3 dogs and enjoyed it. Ranger was very friendly. You can take dogs but keep them on a leash as there's quite a bit of horse poop around and the Ranger will not be happy if you don't. The town of Cerrillos is a hoot too. Pretty nice views, wide trail that's well marked. Placards explaining the area.

Eh nothing special. Pretty easy trail, only did it because it was close to our air b&b. Good views but wouldn’t do it again.

Nice, easy trail with wonderful views. Highly recommend this one as a quick getaway outdoors.

I went on a Thursday morning . I had the place to myself. The trails were marked moderate and were that. They were well marked . Scenery was great especially all the different mine shafts. I had a wonderful few hours.

Awesome trail with awesome views and openings to old mines. Bring plenty of water and some cash to pay the parking fee.

Beautiful views of the mountains and made for a peaceful hike with our dogs!

nice rolling hills.

Beautiful view of the Ortiz mountains!

Great relaxing hike!

Very nice trail albeit a bit harder than I was expecting.

Visitors center in Cerrillos is nice and has lots of good information. Trails were in great condition. Not a piece of trash anywhere that I saw (this is pretty miraculous around here!). Great veiws. Interesting history of mining in the area over hundreds and perhaps around a thousand years or so! Family friendly trails, but go during cooler times/months as this trail offers next to no cover. It's sunny and hot.

Trails were well maintained and the views can be breathtaking at some points. The trail is broken up in to four parts, so beginner to pro on an off day, would enjoy. Check in at the state park visitors center for restrooms, historical aspects, maps. The terrain looks similar and can get you in a loop if your not careful. I enjoyed it.

This is an easily accessible trail from the highway that offers rolling hills and great views of the surrounding countryside and mountains. As a bonus there are a few historical markers describing the mining activity in the surroundings hills that are interesting. Because of horse usage and a dry creek bed parts of the trail are damaged and of sandy making the trail more challenging for the hiker/runner.
