Bernalillo, New Mexico Map

So I’m fairly new to hiking/backpacking with only about 100 miles under my feet so far. With that said, however, parts of this trail were pretty hard compared to trails with a “hard” classification. My daughter is very active and even she had a tough time. This trail is BEAUTIFUL and totally worth the sweat and effort despite my previous statement. If, like me, you’re newer to the hobby just be aware that this will be challenging and then GO!!!!

Great hike. Beautiful views.

Steep climb but great vistas!

Really great views but the trail was snowy and icy as you moved away from the crest and into the forest.

Lovely hike even though trail pretty icy. Be sure to check out Kiwanis Cabin. Only did part of trail because of time limitations but will definitely return to finish.

Great loop, but the hike up the crest spur is pretty steep, more on a moderate level. Fairly exposed to wind most of the time, if it's blowing.

Great trail with amazing scenery. Trails are clearly marked and not too difficult. Once to get to the peaks of each mountain its steep but not overwhelming. Many areas to stop and get a snack or take a water break.

This may be my new favorite hike in Albuquerque. We took the tram to the top of the Sandia Crest and hiked to Kiwanis Cabin to watch the sunset. The weather was perfect at the beginning of July and the trail was easy enough to bring an out-of-state visitor along with us for the view.

Nice mellow hike for me, my wife Cheri, and our dog Jasper. Loved it, Hot in the valley but cool up on the mountain.

Fantastic views of the crest! The snow made it feel and look like a winter wonderland. It was very cold that day so make sure to wear layers if you are going in the winter.

beautiful hike. hard to follow the exact trail, some signs had trail names, some numbers. We ended up hiking almost 5 miles. gorgeous area, great views, tons of wildflowers, Aspen trees, different mosses and lichens. Bathrooms and trash at trailheads and at halfway point at High Finance restaurant. Bathrooms are in the lower level, you do not have to enter the restaurant or make a purchase to use them.

I went with a couple of friends after work today. Still some snow on the trail in places, which can make it kind of slick. We had a great time. I think if I hike that trail again I will go backwards and knock out the La Luz portion of the loop first.

My children and I went this weekend and had a great time. It was a crisp 44 degrees and the sun was shining. I had no idea the 10,000 foot elevation would have such an effect on my breathing.

Beautiful hike through the forest and at the peak. Easy trail-slightly busy but great views and cool crisp air! Take the back route through Placitas for amazing views all the way up! Even saw a bear near the peak! (In our car thank God!)

Awesome hike. Beautiful views from the west and the cabin is sweet.

A nice hike to cool off on because of the altitude. It's mostly easy but will give you a good workout. Great views along the way and you can stop at the tram for some eats.
