HikingGreat!Rocky

This trail is prob one of our favs. We are from a different state, but come here every year for this. Love it! Sandia could prob use some better signs to guide newbies. But great hike.

I went counter clockwise. It was a nice climb up and a pretty easy return through the canyon. The connection between the two was a little tough to find.

Beautiful shady walk with denser flora up the creek floor. Counter clockwise loop. Counter clockwise loop my preference. Nice views up top and more trail going south in the trees if preferred.

WalkingGreat!

Beautiful views of Sandias and foothills on way out and the Rio Grande Valley on way back. All Trails valuable on this hike since there are a lot of alternatives. Also, wear hiking boots. Trail can be rocky. I brought my dog and trail gets narrow when bikes pass by.

Embudito Trail #192 (going clockwise) hugs the south facing unshaded rocky hillside. Gets steeper after a mile, then 2 miles (2 hours at moderate pace) from trail head you reach the high point where there is a shady spot with big boulders, overlooking a valley ahead with South Sandia Peak in full glory ahead. Ideal for a picnic, nap and loop back in the stream bed. We walked another half hour towards Oso Pass on #192 and found some of the densest forested shade in the Sandias. Magnificent! We did not take the loop back in the stream bed. From above there appear to be rough spots but also lots of sandy wash open trail. Many birds en route.

HikingGreat!

This is a great trail to train for a Grand Canyon hike. Especially as a bottom to top portion such as the Bright Angel Trail. Approximately 9 miles from the lower tram parking lot to the tram on top. Did it today with my son. Great weather with a start by 9:am. About 5 hours with a short lunch break.

Fun trail! Only had enough time to do 2.5 of it. Took a shortcut a little over a mile in to loop back on a different path. Very pretty! Will come back again when the sun isn’t as strong (1pm).

Did not get to the top. Everyone coming back said that the last 1/2 mile to the top from the Oso side is a monster. Great views at 3 miles into Oso Ridge (east end of the small Mesa).

Nice trail but very easy to lose. If doing it for the first time you will need to watch your map.
