HikingGreat!

Park at Tingley Beach by the Children’s pond, climb the steps to the bike trail, cross, and then turn right on the dirt trail. Follow the trail through the trees and glimpses of the river until you get to the I40 bridge, and pick another trail to loop back (don’t worry, there’s plenty to choose from and it WILL LOOP around). It’s 3.7 miles total loop of shaded, smooth, twists and turns, 1p trail. Moderately trafficked with walkers, joggers, dogs, and some bikers “off roading.” Easy peasy walk.

Nice trail for inside the city. Not marked well at the start. Cute cows and horses.

May 2019 trip to Southwest, second visit to NM, last time was 15 years ago in late fall. Day 14 last one. First Albuquerque visit (Main Goal#18 of trip). Need to cancel more of main or secondary goals, entire Sandia Mountains (goal #19), Pecos Wilderness (goal #20), and few mountain ranges to south. Did only short segment going north from Tangley Beach, underpass at Central Ave. Here paved trail is away from road good for biking. More options to hike on other unpaved ones.

Need to cancel more of main goals, entire Sandia Mountains, Pecos Wilderness, and few mountain ranges to south. While ago finished walking Old Town, very nice. Nice and cool on hot day, natural surface forested trails along riverbanks of Rio Grade. Sometimes can be muddy, flooded and with bugs. At ponds saw tons of ducks, geese. As trail name suggests do not except to find a beach here!! Ponds are for fishing.

Mostly shaded trail good for the whole family. Few spots along the trail to get in the water. Sandy, well marked good time close to town away from everything. Lots of bikers on the trailer. Had to park in neighborhood because we do not have New Mexico license.

Well, agree with others that it’s better if once you reach the first pkg area on the paved trail, you turn onto the natural trail that follows the river and parallels the paved trail, which is a biker freeway even first thing Tuesday morning! The natural trail is shaded and way more interesting, with a few minor mud spots. There are many side trails to the river. I then jumped onto the Paseo del Bosque Tingley Park loop which has nice ponds with turtles, and a nice river platform at the far end.
