Nice trail for most of it- I’m not a fan of water towers etc so the beginning wasn’t very picturesque

Good trail! Makes time go by fast while enjoying the nice green side of ABQ

Fun little loop. Nice shady spot under I-40. IMO, best to stay closer to Bosque river and enjoy the path vs the bike path.

I was here around 7:40am it was perfect weather low 60s shaded area all the way up. Some areas were confusing in where to go but if you have the map you will be just fine. Coming down was the easy part. I couldn’t wait to take off my shoes. It took me a long time 4 hrs to do the full 8 miles because I was stopping to take pictures. Super happy I did it. Oh and it’s safe just have to watch out for rattlesnakes. I went on my own and I’m a women.

This is by far the most beautiful trail on Sandia in the summer. The view at the top will take your breath away. And there are birds gliding in the wind. It’s majestic. Definitely bring a warmer layer because you’re going to want to enjoy the wind up there for a while. It’s the best part. You’ll never want to leave. The ascend is pretty tough especially on a cloudless sunny day because it just shoots straight up in the scorching NM sun. Bring LOTS of water, SPF and a hat because about two thirds of the trail has no shade. Go alone or bring a quiet company. I can’t think of a worse trail to be stuck in bad company. I wouldn’t recommend bringing beer unless you like drinking lukewarm beer. Don’t miss the birds chirping, the butterflies, the colorful wildflowers, and the whooshing wind along the way.

Lots of bikes, not too many hikers once you get about half a mile from the lot. A bunch of intersections, just like most places in the foothills, just pay attention to your map. Overall, killer little loop.

Great trail. Would totally recommend as it’s absolutely gorgeous all the way through and especially towards the end. One of my favorite hikes.

Relatively busy, and no shade. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses! Gentle incline relative to other trails in the area.

Nice trail. A little busy at the bottom but as we went up it was less crowded. Nice view from the top

really pretty walk, but had to dodge a lot of bikes!

What a work-out! Once you get past the unshaded rocky areas, what a trail! Lots of trees to keep you cool as you get higher and a steady incline most of the way up. Bring lots of water and be prepared for the walk down where you will change temperatures quickly as you leave the trees. Highly recommend! Late April temps kept us cool for the majority of the hike.

This was definitely 13 miles. Not 11. It was harder than anticipated. Beautiful. The stretch in the wooded area was longer than I appreciated. Most ppl on the trail were polite. Bring enough supplies! The views up top were worth the trek. Watching sunset on the way down was nice too. Last mile was a challenge due to major fear of heights but doable!

Beautiful evening trail run. True bliss.

This trail is beautiful and honestly not a whole lot of people on Mondays!

This was a great trail for us and our three dogs. There’s plenty of options whether you want to stay on the flat path next to the ditch (more people on this trail) or adventure down closer to the river where there are hardly any people.

Bring a windbreaker for the peak. The ice is melted now, only a little snow here and there. Beautiful trail!

This was a great trail. Good for hikers of different abilities

The trail has more bikes on it then hikers.

Good hike with kids but lots of cactus around. Must be aware entire time. keep dogs on leash.

My 8-year-old and I enjoyed the scenery and cleanliness. Our legs feel like jello, which means we got a great workout!
