Really enjoyable hike. Views along the ridge to the south peak were fantastic. The rocky stretch at the start is very hot with very little cover from the sun. If you're returning in the heat of the day, be prepared.

Pretty, sweeping vistas. No petroglyphs. Wouldn't bike this trail again without a much fatter tire, given the rocks and sand.

A chill loop, nice to do around sunset. Lots of mountain bikers so watch out!

A beautiful and challenging hike. And a great workout with beautiful views. Also lots of critters to enjoy. Saw a red tailed hawk perched on a tree right beside the trail. Saw the most gorgeous horny road I’ve ever seen as well as a gopher snake. All in the same day! Overall a beautiful day on a beautiful mountain.

This was a great little family hike. The view is beautiful and there was hardly anyone on the trail. 2 volcanoes are closed for restoration, but the hike is still beautiful and a great time and 1 volcano is still open.

Nice little hike. Always a few tourists. Great for a quick morning hike. This time of year, the desert is in bloom.

Pleasant and easy hike. The tops of JA and Vulcan Volcanoes are closed for ecological restoration. You can go to the top of Black Volcano though.

Easy trail to navigate. Some inclined to get your heart beating but not too bad at all. This place is great for views! Beautiful area and the trail was pretty quiet. A lot of areas are closed off but those are mostly secondary trails so it doesn’t ruin the hike.

This was an awesome, gentle afternoon hike—if you’re into the geology aspect, it’s super cool! The views of the sandias are incredible too.

It’s a great trail for taking a dog as it’s more of walking not much hiking. Other then that it’s a great.

Good one to run..a little boring to walk.

Beautiful scenery in the forest canyon and breathtaking views the at the top. Not an easy hike but well worth the trek. I will say there is something a little creepy about the rock caves here and there. Combine that with the cougar prints and bear activity and it gave me the heebies while hiking alone as the sun set.

Tough trail, lots of boulders but with nice breaks of relatively level sand. Lightly trafficked so you’re not passing or yielding to other hikers all the time

Nice easy hike. If you want to avoid the bikers I recommend taking the side trails. Very pleasant overall.

great way to train for marathons, bike races or even just a walk with the family. I live on the west side and have done this trail from beginning to end for years. It is big enough that provide different experiences and accessible enough for even the most casual of hikes.

Very wooded and shaded, leads out to the Rio Grande which is cool. Not really any elevation or any difficult parts. Would be great for kids or anyone else looking for an easy relaxed hike.

Very nice hike. Easy and relaxing.

One of my favorite hikes to do with my dogs! Esp at dusk with the sun setting and the city lighting up. It never seems super busy at the times I have been there especially on the brisk windy days, which are oddly my favorite because it reminds me of Living in Wyoming

well worth it. user friendly

This should be designated as a bicycle trail as the number of cyclists greatly outnumber hikers, at least midday on a Sunday. It's hard to hike when you have to get off the trail every minute or two to let bikers (who ignore the signs that say bikers yield to hikers) pass. This was our first time on the trail and had a difficult time following the map because the trails are not well-marked. There are a few places where two or three trails branch off and there are no signs telling which is the one you want. The map and signs are great if you know where you're going already, but not helpful for a first timer. The scenery is nice but it's not an enjoyable hiking experience.

Nice, short hike with a beautiful view of the Sandias.

Hiked this trail over 100 times. It’s my conditioning trail because it’s so close.

Great hike! Lots of views and super enjoyable!

Great trail that makes for a fun run. Went early in the morning mid week and there were very few people there.

It’s not so nice during the winter when everything around is brown.

More like a walk than a hike but very enjoyable

Nice, easy hike within the city of Albuquerque. My puppy came along and had a blast!

Great easier type hike! Great wide open vista views 360 degrees. Well marked and maintained trails, clean potty at trail head. Beautiful weather for January, and good for winter hikes. Same hike in July would be brutal anytime after 10am. Was a little disappointed that both the bigger volcano trails were closed for habitat rehab. You can still summit the center volcano, but the far north and south ones are closed to hiking. I'm completely on board with the habitat rehab, hopefully they will open a trail or 2 up to those summits sometime in the future.

Well maintained, but a very popular trail. Everyone there was nice and the mountain bikers were well behaved for trail sharing. However, pet owners either don't pick up poop, or they bag it then leave the bags along the trail. We saw at least 10 bags of crap.
