Nice easy climb and hike. Lots of Petroglyphs and wildlife.

lots of petroglyphs along this trail to see. Great experience, just be ready for the heat. With the volcanic rock being black and no tree around it gets a little rough on a summer day.

Fun, easy trail. The view of the Sandias and the valley below them is very nice.

We were able to do this adventure w/my dad on his cane & my son. The petroglyphs were beautiful and easy to see when on the main path. Once on top it was worth it and wonderful view of mountains & the local area. So glad it is preserved!

Nice hike, pretty view from up top and lots of petroglyphs to study.

Very simple hike but exciting! Hike up mountain with Petroglyphs all around! You do have to weave into of black rocks watch your footing and wear hiking shoes!

Nice Easy Hike with lots of awesome petroglyphs! Would definitely recommend to any hiker! :)

In a word... Petroglyphs :D

Fun short hike

I have been here a million times! Each time I always see something new! Lizards, chipmunks and even a squirrel this time! Great for all ages. Please respect the Petroglyphs!! I cannot stress than enough!

Nice, short walk along the base. Several petroglyphs can be viewed from the trail. No snakes today, but a bit warm. There is no fee if you have a NPS pass of some type.

Very short loop, but nice to be able to view some petroglyphs along an easy hike.

Short hike from the parking area up a nice trail (but might be steep for those with leg problems) up to a nice vantage point overlooking the area. Several petroglyphs are seen from the trail.

Short trail, impossible to get lost and very good views of the petroglyphs. I went with my nine-year-old son and we both enjoyed it immensely.

Fun short trail to get your hike going. It's paved and has some concrete steps along the way.

Our first trail on our honeymoon to the southwest in 2014, and still one of the most memorable for me. The weather was perfect (yes, pleasant weather in late July/early August) and the views amazing! Like Rinconada Canyon, we will be going on this trail a lot once we move to Albuquerque later this summer.

Rocky lava trail that is moderately steep. Includes stairs and roped off areas at certain points. The history included on the plaques is interesting. Very nice way to explore the hill and petroglyphs.

Great views and lots of fun history. It's a little rocky and you have to climb a little so maybe not best for elderly.

great view of Albuquerque

This trail is about viewing Petrogylphs, not so much about the hike experience. Great place to take visitors to ABQ.

Just finished some of this trail. Sorta disappointing because most of the trails are closed off. But the view is amazing!!!!

If you have young kids and you want to help stimulate their interest in archaelogy you can't go wrong with Boca Negra Canyon. This series of trails, tucked into an otherwise anonymous neighborhood in Albuquerque offers lots of visual gems and good rock scrabbling for kids ages 7 - 14 or so. You and the kids can get right up to many petroglyphs and make up stories about them or debate what they depict. Is that an alien or a man wearing an antler's head as a mask? You decide. Not great in the summer as it will be sweltering and there are no trees on this sandy trail.

Most of the trails were closed due to restoration which is fine but you don't find this out till you are already at the separate peaks. Only middle peak was open. Very green though and when open a nice little hike for all ages.

The glyphs are interesting, even though there is also modern graffiti everywhere. Worth it if you don't have time to go on a longer hike elsewhere in the park. $2 admission fee.
