Take the green trail top the top... see the cacti...

Loved it. It is in shade and pretty clearly marked. I believe steepness depends on how long the legs are on the person you ask. Views were breathtaking. Worth it.

Great spot to hike
Trail marking could be better but great experience overall

Fantastic trail!! Great workout headed up the red dot trail and incredible scenery toward the end of the blue dot on the way back. I was traveling through on a business trip and I am so glad that I took the time to do this hike! Good trail shoes are a must - it’s very rocky and slippery if wet.

Awesome views of Pennsylvania from the NJ side of the water gap. The trail can be rough in some places. Check out my full write up which includes directions and things to look out for.

great local hike especially if you live in NYC (and have a car). great workout, lovely views and lots of seating areas on flats boulders. I initially missed the stairs on right that take you into the Giant Stairs area (through a fence) so keep an eye out as there are trails that lead elsewhere. very well blazed. not scary or too technical at all and good sneakers were sufficient on a sunny day. took 3.5 hours with a half hour lunch break.

It wasn’t to hard but it let me know that Mother Nature can do wonders. Loved it.

trail running

had a lot of fun running this trail after a significant downpour. trails were largely loose rock and because of the rain more streams then paths. saw a guy halfway with video of a black bear that he had seen a bit earlier along the trail, so be aware of your surroundings and consider hiking with a bell to avoid surprises.

Great hike but very strenuous. Make sure you’re in shape for this one!

Excellent work out. The trail can become confusing as there are many trails that intersect with each other, so you need to keep your eyes on the trail markers or you could be heading down a different path. That happened to me, but it turned out ok as I was following the white trail, then I was on the pink trail that lead to the blue/white trail to lookout point. From there I followed the Blue and white trail to the Falls, a much easier access to the falls from the lookout point. From the falls you can either turn back to climb the rocks to continue towards the lake. From my perspective, climbing up would be much better than going down. Be careful climbing up as you may loss track of the trail, which I did, and had to go back down a bit to pick the trail back up. from there to the lake there are several more falls, which I'll go back later to photograph, before arriving at the lake. From their I ended up following another trail that took be back to the look out point, then following the blue/white trail, ended back at the trail head. Total miles was 2.9. I'll go back.

Nice hike. Not very steep but surely gets your heartrate up at times. Both Red dot and Blue dot are very well marked. The blue dot trail is gradual and longer but worth the effort while coming down with the jumpin pool and waterfall. Red dot trail means business right at the outset till the top. The views from the top are lovely with the Water gap below and Mount Minsy on the opposite side in PA. If lucky can spot some Bald eagles soaring above.

Amazing and exhausting trail. Completely the whole loop and sweated a good 5lbs. Next time I'll be better prepared with more water and hiking gloves

Nice trail, completely in shade with lovely green cover and little brooks crisscrossing every now and then like naughty kids. Not very steep as few reviews suggested. The white markers take you right to the top and extend onto the AT. Do not miss the big pile of rocks once you feel like you reached the top. The view to the vista is left from the pile and can be easily missed. Technically the trail ends at the vista unless you are a through AT hiker. Nice to meet the through AT hikers and have a chat with them learning their experiences.

Quite a few waterfalls along this trail which are all very nice but this trail does get CROWDED. I went on a late Sunday afternoon and there were about 30 people having a bbq/party at one of the falls with no respect to other hikers, they were sitting right on the trail and laying their food everywhere. Plus all this was going on while there were 2 rangers nearby on the road, but they said nothing to these people. Will probably do it again in the winter when hopefully it will be quieter

Unbelievable view from the top. A rocky terrain. The trailhead is behind the Natural swimming pool.

Great local hike with a pretty waterfall!

Was hard in the begging but great hike

Really easy trails, the river is beautiful and having a bathroom at the parking area is a plus!! Cell service is spotty but there is cell service (At&T)

Hi all, I was wondering if there’s someone who want to join this trail during this week! Let me know. INSTAGRAM: @Sarisdu or sarisdu@hotmail.com.

Views are beautiful for what is a short moderate hike but unfortunatley this is an extremely popular hike that gets overcrowded on the weekends. Its become such a problem that the town has come out creating and enforcing new parking laws so be carful in that aspect.

Both scenic and challenging. Greenery and trees along the NJ/NY border. Challenging rock climb & descents at “The Giant Stairs.” Bring a backpack: pack water & snacks. Don’t be a litter bug :)

Great great hike. We took the red dot trail there and back because I had my one year old on my back. The incline was really steep at some points but a really beautiful trail, very well marked. The views at the top make it so worth it. Absolutely breath taking.

Great hike. Red trail climb is a slog and challenging, especially on a hot 80 degree day. 2 gorgeous views of the surrounding Move Taina and rivers. Blue trail back down was gentle and easy. Near the exit is a small creek and swimming hole where we dove in along side 4 other families. Cool water was perfect after a long, sweaty climb.

Awesome Hike !!! This was my first hike. Great hike for beginners. Short hike with Great View!

Such a great hike on such a beautiful day!

really challenging hike but felt so good to finish!! definitely need to be in good shape to navigate all of the rocky terrain. great views of the hudson river!!

This hike is truly a workout! The hike consisted primarily of rocky terrain. To an inexperienced hiker, I would categorize this as a hard trail due to the steep inclines and roughness of the path. Trekking poles or a wooden staff is highly recommended when completing this hike. Despite the difficult climb, the summit was absolutely breathtaking. Instant tranquility resided over me once I reached the summit. It was such a peaceful and calm place to be. However, my favorite part of the hike was the waterfalls on the blue trail. It was a refreshing delight! Tip: Start with the red trail and end with the blue trail.

Views arent anything great and neither are the falls. Multiple trails that are shown on the maps dont exist or are extremely over grown (for example dont try to take the yellow trail loop around the pond, its overgrown from head to toe and is scarcely blazed) only good thing is this trail is pretty quiet, even for a perfect summer Saturday I had the trails all to myself

Beautiful hike. Lots of views at several different points. Rock scrambles. Lots of up steep up hill and down hill rocky climbs. Several streams, ponds and waterfalls.
We almost brought our two younger kids with us 2 &; 5 bc we normally bring them when hiking back home in VA. I’m so glad we didn’t. We never could have made it with them. Excellent workout! We saw NYC from one of the peaks. If this is moderate, hard has to be mountain climbing. Be prepared. Bring more water than you think you’ll need. Lots of spiders and bees also. We sprayed several times... hopefully no ticks.. headed home now.
We also came across 5 snakes . All slithered away from us. Certainly a true adventure for our family!
