Beautiful trail. Nice and simple and great all year round - peaceful in the Winter, gorgeous in the spring-fall

it's pretty and flat. Great for a quick run!

Nice quick and flat trail. A bit overgrown towards the last 3/4 of the way.

Nice trail. Millions of ticks. Most overgrown it's been in a while. Don't bring animals. Put in plenty of bug spray.

Very nice easy trail to walk or run. Good for kids. DO NOT go further into the field past the gate. MILLIONS OF TICKS in that field.
Even tho dogs aren't allowed (didn't see that till I got there) I took my two small ones and they had 20+ on them and we had them all over us.
Tick city!!!
Besides the ticks it was a nice day.
I think it's silly dogs aren't allowed.

Perfect for children ages 4 to 9. Lots of flora and fauna. My daughter and I saw chipmunks, turtles, turkey, squirrels and plenty of birds.

I started out on the Explorer trail (blue) and went past the Outlook Lodge to Old Swenson Farm trail (yellow). I could not find the remainder of the loop as shown despite following the unmarked trail all the way to Wyker Farmhouse. There was heavy brush, barbed wire fencing, and no trespassing signage. Also my Lusscroft Farm Trails map does not show any routes in that direction.

Since there was freezing rain and I was hiking in fresh snow I decided to cut my losses and head home. I backtracked and took the Americorps Mtn trail (blue) to the Shortcut trail (orange) and back to the yellow trail. I took the Tenderfoot trail (pink) to the Spring House and back to the trailhead on Neilson Rd.

I will return to explore this area more. There are cool old buildings, lots of animal tracks, and a few hunter tree stands. Since I came here in February I did not encounter any ticks, but I will be sure to wear repellent clothing if I am back in warmer months.

Good for a quick hike when combined with some of the other trails in the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge. I'm not a fan of out and backs, but this was a fun little trail that would be good for kids. You can extend it by going past the gate at the end and continue along to Route 23 through a grassy area (but be mindful of ticks). The downside is that there is some type of aggregate processing plant, so in addition to the traffic sounds from Route 23, there was the beeping of trucks and the continual sound of the rock crushing. Couple of bonuses were beaver lodges adjacent to the footbridges on the trail.

Fun but many rocks cause your feet to ache when going long distances

Fantastic for a quick hike, especially if pressed for time as I was this evening. A ton of wildlife and gorgeous scenery. Completely worth checking out!

This trail was a favorite amongst my kids. Super easy, flat path. Not too long, just enough to tire them out! We saw more turtles than we could count, as well as signs of other wildlife and even a water snake. We will definitely be making our way back. Trail parking was clearly marked from the road. Just a great family outing.

Tic infested ! Other than that not bad but be prepared to wanna take your clothes off at the end and burn them.

The hike was nice good up hills but the ticks ruin it. Once you notice them they are everywhere and too many of them on you to count. I have never seen ticks like this I don't think I would go back. So glad we didn't bring the dogs.

Tick infested. My boyfriend and I went and literally had 30 ticks on our clothing and shoes. Lodge is pretty cool. Plane crash is nothing as stated in other review.

An easy trail through wetlands. Lots of turtles, frogs, water snakes and birds... A nice walk that isn't too strenuous or too long.
