I have done this trail twice - once in the spring before the leaves are out, and once in the summer with heavy undergrowth and leaf cover. This is a very nice trail with lots to see in an area with a lot of history.
The south end is an old mining area, where there are old foundations, mine shafts and an old cemetery. The north end is beautiful woods with lots of ups and downs, and a view of NYC from Hawk Watch where in the fall you can see migrating birds.
The top of the trail ends at Splitrock Reservoir with some beautiful lake shore views. Sometimes you will see kayakers on the water.
Trails is not too difficult, but take a map and watch out for all the unmarked intersections.
