Paterson, New Jersey Map

We hit this stop on the way to another hiking spot. The view was pretty, but it certainly isn’t worth the drive as a final destination.

Agree with the others. The Falls are impressive but the “trail” isn’t.

The falls in themselves are impressive, but the "trail" leaves something to be desired, as other reviewers have stated. Litter abounds; including used condoms. And on the day we visited, well, we could have done without the sexual harassment from the self-styled "Christians" who set up missionary shop by the entrance.

Great Falls is spectacular.! Uniquely dramatic drop into a narrow chasm, which you can view from very close. Especially impressive at high flow or during winter when frozen. I can't understand why anyone would complain about a little litter or graffiti, rather than rave about the Falls. In addition to natural beauty, the location has great historic significance on multiple fronts. If you can, visit the nearby (and free) Paterson museum to see an historic submarine raised from the Passaic River and exhibits on Paterson industrial past. Not a nature hike; short walk around the Falls in the heart of the city.

The place is just nasty

The falls are beautiful and impressive, unfortunately the park and hiking trails are littered with trash and not very welcoming. Great for a quick stop but not recommended for an all day adventure.

2 Stars. One for the amazing history and one for the waterfalls. Too bad its smack dab in the middle of a crime ridden, drug trafficking city. Very sad the city of Paterson had fell to the demise of politicians who didnt care how anything is taken care of. Once you get past the crack viles and litter strewn all over, the building, bridges and waterfalls are a must see. Stay within the confines of the immediate area as well and i also suggest packing a .45

Beautiful falls but park is trashed. Litter and graffiti abounds. Sad to see such local disrespect for such a treasure.

Nice view and just to rest and enjoy

Park in small lot for Paterson Falls. This park is under renovation and is only partly open. This is an easy hike. There was no wind so it was going to get hot there in afternoon except near the falls. This is a great hike to start out your day. The more history you know the more fun this hike is. Virtual Treadmill video of this hike can be seen on my YouTube Channel, copy and paste link below to watch it. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFO02nxPdM4-CabegFIPlow?view_as=subscriber

Fun, flat. It's urban and pretty close to New York City. Figure on it being busy. The view of the falls is cool though.

More of a nice walk on a sunny day; not a hike; also not the cleanest or most remote area ... crowded too. BUT the falls make for a great view and photos raising it to two stars

The trails and park need a lot of work. The park feels lost in an urban environment with which it doesn't blend well.

It's gorgeous here! The falls were a little on the lower side and not overflowing, but it's a beautiful view. Not too many trails around here that are open, it's more of a park to walk around in. There was a Ranger there who gave a brief overview of the falls and the facilities. Overall, a great, short trip. I recommend to come early, on days with good weather, it does get crowded.

Love the waterfall but really short trail

Great view especially from the bridge. The trials aren't that long; you can see the whole park in 2-3 hours. Stroller friendly and nearby restaurant make it a great afternoon walk.

Absolutely gorgeous falls. They are second in height only to the niagra falls, as far as waterfalls east of the Mississippi. Very easy trail. Easy for kids and dogs.

Beautiful waterfall. I thought this trail was easy enough for adults and children. It actually had multiple waterfalls and a beautiful field of black eyed Susan's.

Trashy park but beautiful waterfall

this isn't really a hike. it's a walk through an extremely dirty park. broken glass and trash everywhere. the fall is beautiful but don't make the trip unless you're in the area or live nearby because it's not worth a haul.
