Lovely walk for all ages. Easy trails and pretty water. Wear bug spray and remember there are no bathrooms anywhere!

A nice hike around the lake.

The ground is very covered, not much on the views. Good route for exercise. Crossed over a few streams and little falls.

One of the more interesting trails I’ve hiked to say the least — a combination of roads, sharp inclines boulder scattered trails and even some light rock climbing, as well as a really cool rundown castle at the summit of the hike. My one complaint is that the trail highlighted on this map is not the cannonball trail, but a combination of three. The trails are well marked but you never know which trail you’re actually on. As long as you follow the app’s mapped trail to a T, you should be fine. The views are some of the best in New Jersey.

I did a 7-mile loop which included the Lookout Trail and a portion of Cannonball Run in a good amount of snow. The trails are well-marked and there were a lot of great views along Lookout.

Nice hike- good elevation in the beginning to get the heart pumping.

Nice, scenic, relaxing. My dog really enjoyed herself.

Pretty nice trail, especially during the foliage season. Some of the blue markers are a little rundown so be careful and pay attention. The blue trail does get a little steep in areas so when there are leaves make sure they are dry! The park is usually crowded near the bodies of water but as soon as you get further into a true trail hike you find your alone time for sure! I must of only run into two people on blue during a beautiful crowded Saturday morning.

Easy and scenic! My 5yr old and I took a nice mini-adventure around this beautiful lake.

I really love this hike- what a pleasant surprise! Such variety in scenery and terrain. A great mix of beauty and challenge for a Saturday morning.

From lower parking lot we took the blue trail past the lake to white. The beginning of castle hill trail climbs steeply but is easily done past Van Slyke Castle and its stone water tower. Continued on white where it terminates and picked up red circle trail or Cannonball trail. Follow carefully as it twists and winds and some blazes are missing and/or in poor shape. Completed the loop and returned back on blue to parking lot.

Another wonderful hike. Although the hike is pretty easy, it has one of the best views with a gorgeous lake and a ruined castle. Don't miss the castle, the climb is the only time u ll burn ur thighs, although the views from up top are spectacular too.
We started from the skyline drive parking up north, at the Hofferlin trail and came our way down to the lake, before doing a full circle and then the deserted castle and back again. We deviated a lot off the suggested trail but overall a very good experience.

i've hiked this many times and brought my dog a few times. i've also biked down the hill from Skyline Dr and biked around the lake. both are awesome. the trail has gotten a lot of attention in recent years. get there early to fully enjoy.

This was a great hike. A beautiful lake and plenty of great views. The lily pads and flowers were awesome, we've never seen so many on one pond. The trails were well marked and well maintained although it would have been nice to have a map, we used this app to track and it worked out fine. The State Park should have trash containers in the parking area as there was quite a pile near the trail head. Overall we would come back again, it is great for beginners.

Unintended hike down the mountain and back up again whilst trying to find Ramapo Overlook to Lake Todd, which I now know is across Skyline road, on the other side of the mountain! The app kept bringing me out to Skyline Drive from the parking lot which didn't make sense, as I didn't realize I was to cross the road.

Nonetheless, a lovely, if not challenging on the way back up (only a "moderate" trail, but was all uphill in the woods on the Yellow trail for a full mile back to the parking lot). Used to hike all the time but haven't done so regularly for many years. Felt great to get back "in the woods" and the Lake was a special treat at the bottom of the hill. Beautiful old Tudor on the way down. Brought the family dog who had great fun smelling and peeing everywhere. Was glad to get back to car and airconditioning! Encountered several people and dogs along the way but not too many at all.

What a hike!!! Beautiful views, well marked trails and a challenging trek! Not to be missed!!

it's so nice and peaceful. not too crowded. great views when you get on the top hill. it was not challenging at all, finished in about an hour and half. I really liked the pattern of trail going up.

Trail was awesome......the views, the ruins.....everything was better than expected.....I did a few add ons which gave me a nice 10 miles.....I would definitely recommend this trail

Are there any good trails for biking?

A great trail for someone looking for a wide variety scenery in a reasonable distance with gentle elevation. I found myself losing the trail frequently due to fallen and missing blazes along with the large number of intersecting trails in such a small region of the park. If you're considering this hike on the weekend, do it early. Parking fills up quick in the nice weather, and stubborn afternooners start to get dangerously creative with where they put their cars.

Nice park, nice views but horrible trail signage or the lack of it, to be exact... You get to the crossroad and have no idea which way to go as there are no signs so please be aware.

Awesome trail. multiple parking lots in various spots so plan your trip accordingly

Compared to when I went in the summer, the path is very muddy and at times slippery so be advised. Otherwise than that, I loved it, the river is flowing with more water and the lake frozen was a sight to see.
