Great running trail, really feels like you stepped away from suburbia into the woods. Quiet, super lush & green

DOGS ARE WELCOME HERE! Great hikes at JH. Lots of fun trails through the woods.

Fun trail for mountain biking. Started at sunrise parking lot in Lewis Morris Park out 5 miles and then back 5 miles. For the most part Trail is dirt and gravel, lots of big roots in some sections and a few bridges with no ramp on: off so had to get off Bike and walk across. Two sections where water in brook was higher and moving so again had to dismount and walk Bike through water while using the stepping stones. One very long uphill section from the Mendham police station but rewarded with coming downhill on the way back. I’d rate this as moderate because of the roots and rocks but definitely recommend!.

Great trail. Clear and well maintained. Good mix of ascents, descents and flats. Several opportunities to take cross trails to shorten the loop if needed. As well as extend your trek.

this reservation is AMAZING has so many options whether you want to run, bike, walk your dog, have a family party, have a BBQ, etc. my pup Lucy loved the small water sections along the trails where she could run back and forth through the water. really, really loved it here, will absolutely be bringing friends back.

As a casual mountain bike rider I found this trail very difficult, especially the hills. I also found the trail markings a bit difficult to follow at times. I guess the trails would be great for anyone with very strong legs and a full suspension bike. If you're a novice this trail is not for you.

Loantaka Brook Reservation is a crown jewel of the Morris County, NJ Parks system. The Reservation has been pieced together over the last 60 years thanks to the County, private donors, and municipal contributions. From the north, it follows from Kitchell Pond southward to the edge of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, generally following the flow of Loantaka Brook and other feeder streams into the Great Swamp. A 2015 addition within this trail system is Giralda Farms Preserve, which has a separate entry in AllTrails.com

Love the ups and downs, and beautiful surroundings. 3/4 of the trail is well-maintained. There was a stretch though that had been recently bulldozed and was very, very muddy. And 1/4 of the trail is still seriously overgrown and difficult to get through. Plenty of poison ivy and prickly plants to contend with on that stretch.

Pretty easy trail, saw many bikers as other reviewers noted and one person on a horse. Nothing spectacular about it in terms of views or interesting landmarks.

Trail gets you up and down while walking through shaded areas. Despite yesterday's rain showers there was barely any muddy spot.

Nice simple place for a hike. You can hike, bike, roller skate & horseback here. Main trails are paved, others are stone dust & others are dirt. Some dirt trails are muddy after a rain, but watch out for horse poop!

Easier hike than graded, smooth with some roots & almost no rocks to contend with. Found it better to hike counter-clockwise so you see biker traffic, but either way works

The trial is good. There are some up and down hills but not mountainous rugged one. It is good for exercise. However, about 1/4 of north trial is really for mountain biker. There are high school or middle schools mountain bikers today in that trail. It is good to avoid that section by taking some inside trails. Overall it is a very good exercise for us today

Great for a stroll through the woods, day in the park, riding your bike, or rollerblading.

Very easy, obvious path. I brought my bengal kitten for her first trail walk here and she made friends with a little road near the water.

Loved this trail! Perfect for my fearless 7 yr old!

STILL HAS AN ERROR in the TRAIL NAME as shown ON THE MAP itself in the upper right corner when viewing the ALLTRAILS layer.

To see how the trail should be labeled, look at the SATELLITE layer, which is correct.

Specifically, if you look at the map in ALLTRAILS layer view, the trail is INCORRECTLY labeled as

If you look at the SATELLITE layer view, the trail is CORRECTLY labeled as

as you can see by looking at the annotated map in the photo I uploaded here:

The "GRAND PARADE TRAIL" is a completely different trail than the
"GRAND LOOP TRAIL". And it is different than the GRAND PARADE RD and the GRAND PARADE FIELD.

The picture uploaded per link above explains everything.
