For the most part this trail is easy. There are certain parts that have a pretty rocky and steep climb, but nothing that challenging. Not very scenic, but a nice starter trail if you are new.

my kids and i love this trail

It’s a cool trail there are spots on the trail where the markers are confusing but really hard to get lost, just walk down hill to re orientate. I’ll go back because I wasn’t able to complete the full trail due to confusing trail markers I ended up taking a connection trail cutting about an 1hour of my hike short

Hiking, birding and geocaching what more does a little old Forester need

I would call this trail easy, but it was nice! Not many spectacular views, but great for a quick day hike and looks like it has some great bouldering spots that I didn't get to try out on this trip.

Paved and shaded in spots! Lots of great options. Saw a snake and some turtles. A very nice hike when you don’t want to deal with slippery rocks.

Me and 3 friends ventured out for a 6 1/2 mile walk/hike , it was glorious and highly recommended for all ages!

Get place for a run! And it comes with a heavy dose of history as well. Recommend hitting the visitors center first for a briefing before entering the estate.

Simple, heavily wooded trail - a dumbed down version of the more scenic outer loop. Good for someone looking for a quick hour hike!

Great hike. Good diversity. Probably the most challenging you’ll get in Hillsborough area.

Easy-moderate home with a few small water features.

Usually run here at least once or twice a week. The grounds are beautiful, and there is even a tram available for those less inclined to walk around. Nice park tucked away in Somerset County.

locally available
beautiful
lots of surprises
some natural, many man made but all intriguing

great hike. fun Rocky areas

So much to see Trails, flowers, wildlife plants, even saw wild turkies! It's good to bring your family and friends. You can walk or ride a bike rented bike (Like we did) or bring your own.

Wonderful for the family bike outing. Some hills, but mostly paved trails. Easy parking access and well maintained. Not really mountain biking, just easy trails.

loved this hike!
-great boulder fields and lots of rocks so have some good hiking boots ready.

-not too steep but some ups and downs.

-plenty of boulders to explore and climb

-well marked for the most part but may be looking for markers at some points

Much steeper and rockier than I thought. Lots of fun. Depending on the path you choose, not at all appropriate for dogs! Also, not as well indicated as I would have expected. Thank goodness for all the "donation" signs on the trees!

Let's face it, there is not a lot of elevation to be had in the middle of Jersey. Clayton has some fun hills and the Yellow Trail at Baldpate will get your heart pumping a bit, but the Sourlands have quickly become my "local" favorite. Rocky, but very nice trails, not overgrown at all, even mid-summer. Odd system for marking trails, and marked pretty well... for the most part. I always seem to lose the trail at the top North corner, by the boulders. People seem to wander around and explore in this area a lot so a distinct trail is no so easy to follow. Fortunately, its pretty difficult to really get lost, just head downhill. There are a lot of options for distance and difficulty. Overall, a great place, but beware, the lot gets very full, very fast on the weekends.

Very nice and somewhat vigorous trek through the Sours. Just enough traffic to break up the still of mid day with some pleasantries of conversation from a passerby. Delightful yet energetic afoot in these hills. ☮️

very nice but overcrowded on the weekends

This trail was perfect for a beginner hiker like myself. Very easy to stay on trail and have cell service throughout. Very forested atmosphere with nice scenery. However, I was hoping there would be a nice view at some point on this trail but there was none. Would recommend.

road biking

This is one of my favorite places to run or bike. I bring my own road bike and stay on the paved roads, or rent a bike ($5) for use on gravel paths. A visit to cemetery hill is well worth the small effort. I love dogs, but I'm glad this is a dog-free space. There are groundhogs, rabbits and fox all around. Because of the Farm's initiatives in native plantings, the bird watching is great. Leave your earbuds in the car and let the birds sing to you.
