From parking, follow Highlands trail (blue diamond blazes) across the field. Take left on Townsend Rd and in a few hundred feet turn right into woods, still following blue blazes. Continue uphill to ridgeline where there are several nice viewpoints along the way. Highlands trail then descends to Blue Mine (flooded). From here turn right using the red dot on white blazed trail (do not cross bridge). Follow to junction with the Mine Trail (orange blazes) turn right. Pass Roomy Mine on left. Entry is forbidden Sept 1 - Apr. 30th due to hibernating bats, but otherwise an interesting side exploration (bring flashlight). Mine Trail soon meets a yellow and white blazed trail and they climb together to another nice viewpoint. Stay on orange trail, back to the Highlands Trail. Turn left on Highlands Trail and return to the parking area.Show more
