An OK trail; not many photo opportunities. Some parts of the trail are clearly marked, while other parts are not. Also, some parts of the trail are overgrown, requiring long pants. Trekking poles are also a necessity given some muddy patches here and there.

If you enter on the Pleasent Valley road entrance you can avoid the wall of rocks

This trail hike, I will definitely recommend . We Started out with great weather 70 degree weather in November... Came upon some wildlife animals, Small creeks the River and more.
The only downfall is The trail Direction is not marked out clear enough...Needs improvemet
I love it

Decent trail. Just 10 mins from my job so very convenient. Few paths to choose from

Trail conditions were fine - a little muddy; downed trees are all cleared. Pretty thick foliage when you are near the shore, but it's only for a little while and there's no thorns. Trail is marked very well; it's just not super eventful, but it's nice. The forest is very healthy. But if you just want a little walk through the woods it's very nice.

1.5 mile hike to Matapan Rock with spectacular views to Northwest then returned back to parking lot to pick up Cannonball and then white to Castle point lookout for a halfway decent view. Dislike Cannonball trail due to so many switchbacks because of the mountain bike use and usually try to cut through most of them.

Beautiful early fall day, we started from the spur trail and hiked to the lake and back. Very peaceful. Not exactly an easy hike I’d say, more on the moderately strenuous level. Loved it!

Great for strolling around with a baby! Easy, paved loop with pretty scenery. Besides a baseball field, there is also a volleyball net, swing set and soccer field. Can see enjoying this park for many years to come with the kids.

Hiked the Red up, Blue down 9/23. Parked in the smaller of the two lots off of I-80. The (red) trail head is on the left side of this first lot. At 8:30 AM there were only 6 cars. Nice all around hike. With views, rocks, forest, bridges and water you get a bit of everything. Taking the red dot trail up is steep but short. Not long after you begin, you’re rewarded with a great view to keep you going. I would rate this a little more difficult than moderate, but barring any significant knee ailments, if you wear proper shoes, and go at your own comfortable pace, it’s attainable for the enthusiastic hiker in any condition. The blue dot trail (took this down), is longer and slightly gradual, but by no means easy, and there are steep portions. If you take the same trail up and back, you will miss out on what the other offers. Know your pup, I'm not certain this is a good hike for all dogs. My rating: 3.5 stars.

Easy hike. it should not be included in hard hikes.

Not very dog friendly, muddy. Most of the trail is through a field on planks. Only enough room for one person and u get full sun so it gets hot. I don’t know about this one

amazing views and challenging rocky path

Definitely worth the view... Have been hiking here for years... However, this is the first time we did the full loop with our 8 month old, Logan and trusty Kelty pack...Logan loved it, especially the waterfall at the end!

Very nice views at top. Not really a hiking trail for me. But great for a walk around.

Not shaded much so be prepared. Great park for bird watching.

Overall good hike but it does cross through a swap which gets muddy after a rainy day.

Fun and quick hike! Love coming here with the dogs and doing two loops to get a good workout. Also great trail for running.

Great hike! Diverse trails and lovely reservoir views. Plenty of up and down but never too strenuous. Mushrooms and frogs galore! Keep an eye on those blazes, they can be hard to spot. The blue trail in particular was more overgrown and less clear, but fun nevertheless.

Wear good shoes!!! This hike was very well-marked and fun. The rock scramble was intense, as it went across rather than up. I went in mid-Sept.

Nice trail but easy to get lost

Great trail!

Well marked. Easy and moderate trails. Alongside the lake. Not too isolated or crowded.

Always a leg burner...never gets old.., think the rocks are growing on the trail.

A little muddy but still enjoyable. Lots of families out enjoying themselves.

To start, I'm from WA state, so that's my point of reference. This hike (past Pickell Park) starts on a trail that's basically a field with some flattened parts that look like a car drove over it and may be more walkable. Every so often, you end up in situations like this, or where there are fallen trees or it requires some bushwhacking to find the actual trail, which made it quite an, shall we say, interesting hike. I'm unsure if the trail is generally unmaintained, or if it's relatively new, or if it's just not very trafficked, but I'm glad I downloaded the AllTrails map before heading out there because I would have definitely gotten lost otherwise. Although the trail looks like it might get close to a lake, there aren't any great views of it. The trail itself is super overgrown at a lot of places, so I'd recommend long pants or gaiters. Lots of flat or downhill parts, so all of the elevation gain happens in very short sections, meaning they're pretty steep, and plenty of rocky parts. The path we took: Blue > Red > White > Yellow > White > Blue to make a loop from the Pickell Park parking lot.

The Patriot Trail is a good fast walk/run with some nice steep climbs. The detour to the waterfall is steep and good for the quads although the waterfall is really a brook. We went on a Saturday and we had it all to ourselves. Due wear hiking boots the terrain is rocky and the leaves hide them quite often.

Awesome trail! Definitely drink plenty of water and watch your footing. All the rock scrambles you’ll end up climbing/hiking through get difficult and very exhausting but climbing through them is so much fun. You’ll feel accomplished when you’re finished!

Had a great time! The trails are blazed well & the reserve is in great condition. Only compliant is that some of the trails are close to people’s backyards; perimeter of the park is close to private property. Overall watch out for frogs & chipmunks!
