Cute little path however, it rained the two days prior so the path was quite wet in some areas.

Nice nature trail.

No biking or pets.

Cute but Not quite a trail, more like a garden path. Not long enough to build a head of steam hiking.
Spied some white tails leaping away.
boggy woodchips after rain.

Overgrown, flooded, impassable if you want to keep dry.

Good for a little mid-day jaunt.

Soggy wood chip floor most of the way that turns into mud at the very end. That part felt like I was following a trail to a hobo jungle. And made my work shoes muddy.

Peaceful with soundscape equal measures buzz of insects, highway across the river and, when I was there, landscaping equipment.

Pretty short.

Saw three other people total.

Perfect for a quick stroll

This is the perfect little trail to visit when combined with some ballplaying or running around at Shepard Kollock Park, a premier park of Chatham Borough. After the April, 2018 trail improvements and planting of 100s of native trees here by the Chatham Borough Shade Tree Commission (plus volunteers and the Department of Public Works), it's a good place to cool off next to the beautiful Upper Passaic River just after it leaves the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Along my walk, I met several people who picked up the trail at Tallmadge Avenue and were walking to Shepard Kollock Park with their kids. Another person was admiring the Passaic River with her dogs. A man was on a long dog-walk in Chatham and wanted a change of scenery.

VERY overgrown. Impassable in some spots. Needs trail maintenance badly after the winter storms. Very muddy after rain. Thorny and wet, come prepared! Follow the paw prints or else your boots will end up soaked!

Wet trail next to the Passaic River. Lightly trafficked, so it becomes a bit overgrown in fall and spring. Feels like interior woods/wetlands despite being in a suburban area. Good wildlife watching on the river, ducks of several species.

This path was around 0.3 miles. Not much to see here besides some berry bushes, weeds, and wildflowers. Someone attempted to do some plantings. A few more gardens along the trail would be nice.

Next to road so there is a lot of noise from cars and trucks.

A lovely short trail in the heart of Chatham, NJ. A "figure eight" loop, easily accessed by a parking lot along Hillside Avenue. Native flower plantings, benches and a picnic table with pretty views over the far mountain ridge. Wildlife including fox, deer, ground hog, birds (especially woodpeckers) and many species of butterflies, bees and other insects. The land was formerly part of the Averett Farm, purchased by Chatham Township with support from Morris County and the State of New Jersey.

Beautiful 2015 addition to Morris County's Loantaka Brook Reservation. This trail goes through the heart of the historic property once owned by Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge. Previously used as a Revolutionary War encampment. Lovely natural plant communities, a small pond, and wonderful views. Cinder path is easy on the legs. Dogs on leashes. Enjoy!
