I completed a variation of this hike which included the Laurel Pond Trail to the Pumphouse Trail and the Boulder Garden Trail. The forest is beautiful and lush, but the lack of views on the route I took results in the hike being somewhat anti-climatic. My father used to bring my brother and I fishing at Laurel Pond and Wawayanda Lake when we were young and so I was eager to explore the surrounding woods a bit.

Just did this hike yesterday and there was a lot of snow on the trail. It was a fun hike with several rock scrambles and stream crossings. I can't wait to come back again when the flowers are blooming.

Great for Mountain Biking

Excellent park

A little wet on the upper part of the trail, but great views throughout the hike. Loved the rock scrambling required at on the shoreline trail. With the trees being leaf free this time of the year, we were able to see some great views of the cliffs from below.

Great hike

Great hike. Newer park with nice trails

My daughter and I did this with a lot of snow on the ground. Because of that, I suspect it wasn’t as easy as noted. We had to find detours around paths covered in water. The loop was closer to almost 4 miles because of that. Even still, we loved it, though I had some scary moments crossing water.

Was a very nice hike. Definitely a challenge right now due to snow coverage that is melting. Trail is slippery so hiking boots with really good traction or metal spikes are suggested. Beautiful view once you hit the top!

Wet trail next to the Passaic River. Lightly trafficked, so it becomes a bit overgrown in fall and spring. Feels like interior woods/wetlands despite being in a suburban area. Good wildlife watching on the river, ducks of several species.

I've done this a couple of times. It is really more of a walk than a hike in my opinion. Also, it is not as secluded as I would prefer.

Hiking counter clockwise on the loop trail you have steep ascent which is fun and challenging. After that it is very easy hike. Great views on the ridge at the top. I only wish graffiti artists would stay at home and people should be mindful to carry out all trash.

Really enjoyed hiking here. It was after recent snowfall so there was water on some of the trails, but that makes the hike better to me.

Very comfortable walk with kids and older dogs.

Very comfortable walk with kids and older dogs.

I did a 7-mile loop which included the Lookout Trail and a portion of Cannonball Run in a good amount of snow. The trails are well-marked and there were a lot of great views along Lookout.

Great trail. I’ve done it three times since March has started. If you want more of a challenge take the trail counter clockwise starting with the blue dot trail and taking the red dot down. Much steeper inclines going up so it’s a nicer workout plus you get to see all the falls first and the hike down is much quicker after you summit

Great trail that's well maintained. I really love the boardwalk they put in through the marshy areas. Very easy walk with plenty of birding opportunities. I'd say it's even worth repeat visits throughout the year.

Well kept, easy nature trail with an observation tower. Very easy to get to and plenty of parking.

We went out on this trail after a huge storm and it was absolutely amazing! I can only imagine how beautiful it is when everything is green and in bloom. The difficulty and time needed to complete the hike increased a bit due to the amount of snow which had accumulated, but it was more than worth the effort. The view is perfect!

Beautiful trail. Nice and simple and great all year round - peaceful in the Winter, gorgeous in the spring-fall

So much fun with the dog!

Started at the alpine boat basin to make it an 8-9 mile trip. Views on top of the palisades were nice. Lots of litter though. Heavily trafficked areas. Took 6 hours for the extended loop. Navigating the rocky parts was slow. Really muddy and slushy on the long path at the top. Good workout.

Great hike. Was here the Saturday after the nor'easter storm. Could not complete the red loop to many downed trees. But, there was evidence that the trail was being cleared - to many trees down for a quick fix. Will be back to try again!

Nice walk around a lake. Some parts of path are uneven from tree root growth. Lake has a play ground for the kids. And if you are into fishing the lake has bass, sunfish, carp, catfish, and stocked trout.

Beautiful place

I bring my 5 year old little girl out here frequently. She is able to complete the hike without any problems.

Easy relaxing but crowded with picknickers in summer
