The views from Passaconaway are really nice, but I’m not sure they are worth the number of miles you have to put in. I chose this trail because I liked how much of it was flat in the woods, but after 3 miles of that it gets fairly rigorous. Especially at this time of the year, the wet leaves can get really slippery. It was also probably the muddiest hike I’ve ever done, and there’s a point where you need to cross the brook and I think it’s a little impossible NOT to have to wade through the water. And finally, probably because it is less frequented than coming up from the south, much of the trail is not blazed and a couple times that can get confusing on where to go. I took a detour and added Square Ledge to this hike (it was okay) and it totaled 12 miles.
