The four star is to cover my dislike for the Turtleback “walk” part of the hike. Love Bald Knob and the Cut-off trail. Great day for it as I was trying to stay lower out of the winds and yet get a get a great view. Tracked out well. Micro spikes were helpful especially heading back down the cut off.

We did this hike in October to take advantage of the fall foliage. It did not disappoint. The Shannon brook trail has several beautiful waterfalls to admire including the 40 ft Fall of Song. Unfortunately we were unable to walk around Shannon pond and look at the trout due to the dam reconstruction. We took the Bridle Path trail to the Bald Knob trail and had some awesome views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Castle In The Clouds. All of the trails are well marked and well maintained by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust. Would definitely do this hike again.
